Westside. All five members of 311 grew up in the 1970's in Omaha, Nebraska. Nick Hexum, Tim Mahoney and Chad Sexton lived on the west side of town and went to Westside High School together. P-Nut and SA Martinez lived on the south side of town and went to Bryan High School together.
Unity. In late '88, Nick, Chad, and keyboardist Ward Bones moved to LA to try and get a record contract. However, they were unsuccessful.
The Ed's. During high school, Nick and Tim played in a rock band together called 'The Ed's'. Nick was also in the high school concert jazz band with Chad.

Creatures (For Awhile). 311 is all about peace and unity. They also support the legalization of marijuana, but at the same time, think that if you choose to do this drug, do it safely and responsibly.
Feels So Good. 311 has also toured around the world. They have also even help promote bands, in some cases, signing them to their label. They found and signed Pepper.
Do You Right. 311 has played with the band Incubus. They have also toured with Snoop Dogg. During their '07 Unity tour, they had the famous Wailers (Bob Marley's band) tour with them.
down down. 311's "311 day" is on March 11th. It is well known by fans because 311 performs a marathon set, sometimes lasting for more than five hours. In this five hours, the band plays just about every song from their albums.
