This sleeve has two versions. On one there's a sculpture with some puppets with their sexual organs on display. On the censored version there's just the text of the 'First Amendment' printed. What sleeve is this?More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"Ritual de lo Habitual" - Jane's Addiction. The sculpture was made by singer Perry Farrell. The puppets weren't even doing any lewd things, but still some retail chains refused to sell the album. Thus the sleeve with the First Amendment, guaranteeing free speech.

This Nirvava album featured a newborn baby under water, reaching out to grab hold off a dollar bill. Can you name it?Album Covers (dan916)

Nevermind. A classic album, in my opinion, from 1991, featuring amongst others the tracks "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Lithium", and "In Bloom".

This album featured a cartoon drawing on the front, of a young boy on a swing. The boy has a broken leg, pinned in place, and has an over-sized insect on his lap with him! Can you name this album by The Offspring?Album Covers (dan916)

Americana. Not the best album released by the band, but clearly the most commercial. The tracks "Why Don't You Get A Job" and "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" can be found on this album.

There's a picture on this sleeve of a man who's just been to the hairdresser's. He's obviously not very happy with the result, cos he's looking in a mirror and smashing it to pieces. What record sleeve is this?More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"Damaged" - Black Flag. Most of Black Flags record sleeves - apart from this one - and concert posters were designed by Raymond Pettibon. His real name is Raymond Ginn. He's the brother of Greg Ginn, guitar player and leader of Black Flag and owner of the SST record label. Pettibon also designed record sleeves for Minutemen, Sonic Youth and Dim Stars.

There's a picture of the head of the lead singer on this sleeve. One of the band members seems to be his eye. Two other band members are looking a bit confused on the right side of the sleeve. One of them seems to be a dwarf. What classic sleeve is this? More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"The Doors" - The Doors. I think former stand up comedian Denis Leary said it best when he said: "We need a two and a half hour movie about the Doors? Folks, no we don't. I can sum it up for you in five seconds, ok. I'm drunk. I'm nobody. I'm drunk. I'm famous. I'm drunk. I'm dead. There's the whole movie, ok! Big fat dead guy in a bath tub, there's your title for you."

There's a picture of the Beatles on this cover. They are looking at the camera. Ringo appears to be a dwarf. What album cover is this? Album Covers (hootch)

"With The Beatles" - The Beatles. The Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They had many hits. One of them was "Let It Be".

There are four men standing around, surrounded by ice and snow, waiting for some equipment that's more suitable for their surroundings. They appear to have spent the night at some lush soirée and either got lost on their way home or decided to go on an expedition and forgot to change their clothes, cos they're wearing tuxedos. There's also something funny going on with their heads. Which record sleeve is this?Album Covers (hootch)

"Eskimo" - the Residents. Eskimos are now called Inuits.

The singer somehow resembles a Smurf on this sleeve, although he's removed his white hat, exposing golden locks of hair. Behind him there's a psychedelic leaded glass church window. What record sleeve is this?Album Covers (hootch)

"Tonight" -David Bowie. Even though Iggy Pop co-wrote 5 of the songs on this Bowie album, it's one of his lesser works. Anyway, easy enough for ya? If this quiz gets rated 'Impossible' or 'Crazy! Like Brainbustingly Brutal!' I'll eat me trousers.

The Prodigy have always been known for their eccentricity, often visible in their albums. Do you know which of their album covers featured a large crab on the beach, reaching its claws out at the camera aggressively?Album Covers (dan916)

The Fat of The Land. Probably their best album to date (in my opinion), spawning the singles "Breathe" and "Firestarter".

The band - who had a pretty big cartoonesque dimension anyway - appear as cartoon figures on this sleeve. It's pretty obvious that their trousers have seen better days. What sleeve is this?Album Covers (hootch)

"Road to Ruin" - the Ramones. The different members of the Ramones all called themselves Ramone, as in Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone etc. But the truth is that those weren't their real names. They nicked the idea from Paul McCartney who used to register himself in hotels under the name Ramone.

The back cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Tattoo You' featured which member of the band covered by tattoos?Album Covers (dwmw)

      Keith Richards.

The baby in question 9 is being lured by something. What?Album Covers (dwmw)

Nimrod. Another overly commercialised album, but a good one nonetheless, featuring "Hitchin' A Ride" and the timeless "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" singles.

Some scruffy looking longhairs are standing around on a rocky underground. There's a big stony square in the middle of the picture. It seems like the ruffians have just relieved themselves against it. What shameful album cover is this?Album Covers (hootch)

"Who's Next" - The Who. The Who were Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon and John Entwistle. Moon died in 1978. Entwistle died in 2002. The other two didn't die at all.

On this sleeve there's a picture of the singer taking a picture of us. He seems to be signalling for us to move a little to the left. Or is it the right? What is it?More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"This Year's Model" - Elvis Costello and the Attractions. In July 1980 Melody Maker writer Allan Jones was in Montreux, covering the festival where bands like The Specials, Rockpile and Costello and his Attractions are performing. After the concerts the bands are all hanging out in a hotel room doing cocaine, and so is Jones of course as he's a ligger of worldwide renown. Costello is in a bad mood. He doesn't like the press much anyway, so he's constantly getting on Jones' case, asking him if he's taking notes of everything. At one point he asks him to leave, in a slightly unpolite way. Then a photographer reaches into his bag. "If you get a camera out of that bag," Costello says, "I'll break your fingers." The photographer holds up a pack of cigarettes and smiles weakly. At 6am manager Jake Riviera is standing at the window. The sun's coming up over the lake. "The lake looks lovely this morning," he says. "Yeah," says Elvis Costello, standing next to him, "I think I might go for a walk on it later."

On this sleeve there's a black and white picture of the singer doing a sort of cramped hand-jive. Then again, he could also be auditioning for a remake of the classic vampire flick "Nosferatu - Eine Symphonie des Grauens". What is it?More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"The Idiot" - Iggy Pop. It is generally assumed that David Bowie saved Iggy Pop from the gutter three times. The first time was when he produced the Stooges album "Raw Power" (1973). The second time he co-wrote and -produced Iggy Pop's comeback albums "The Idiot" and "Lust for Life" (both 1977). And a third time when he made "Blah Blah Blah" (1986) with Pop. Another way of looking at it though, is that Bowie co-opted Pop's cred and cool for his own benefit. Anyway, it's been a fruitful partnership. Except for "Blah Blah Blah" which is overproduced in a horrible 80s kinda way, making it virtually unlistenable.

On this sleeve a triangle with a multi-coloured tail spits out some white stuff. The moon is nowhere in sight. What album sleeve is this?Album Covers (hootch)

"Dark Side of the Moon" - Pink Floyd. It is rumoured that when you play the album "The Dark Side of the Moon" in synch with the movie "The Wizard of Oz" that there are some remarkable coincidences which seem to suggest that the album was written as some sort of alternative soundtrack to the film. Some people have too much time on their hands.

On this sleeve a black man has put three billiard balls in his mouth, a woman is trying to climb some stairs and some other people stand around, milling about. What sleeve is this? It's in black & white. Album Covers (hootch)

"Exile on Main Street" - Rolling Stones. "Exile On Main Street" was covered in its' entirety by New York band Pussy Galore, which featured Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion), Neil Hagerty (ex-Royal Trux), Julia Cafritz (Free Kitten), Bob Bert (ex-Sonic Youth) and Cristina Martinez (Boss Hog). The album was only released on cassette and is very rare indeed.

On this cover the singer is walking towards the left, with strange spots on his face. There appears to be an old lady growing out of his back. What album is it?More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"After the Goldrush" - Neil Young. On the inside of the gatefold sleeve you can see Neil Young lying depressed on a sofa, because his guitars are bent out of shape.

On this album cover seven goats are attacking five guys. The goats are clearly winning, as the guys are looking scared and retreating. What classic sounds are hidden beneath these shocking scenes? More Classic Album Covers (hootch)

"Pet Sounds" - The Beach Boys. As per usual Beach Boy Mike Love lets the others do all the work. While the Wilson brothers and Al Jardine are keeping the goats at bay, the best they can, he's hiding behind them. What a wuss.

On the original cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Sticky Fingers' there was something that moved. What was it? A ...Album Covers (dwmw)

      zipper.

On the cover of the Scorpions' 'Blackout', what does the screaming man have in his eyes?Album Covers Also (skjellyfetti)
