Research into Ovarian Cancer. Michael became very involved in raising money for research after the sad death of Angela McGowan. Angela was the sister-in-law of Michael's partner Cathy and had been instrumental in getting the couple together. Michael has performed several concerts in aid of ROC, and his fan club has been active in raising money for further research. His version of 'The Rose' was dedicated to Angela.

Caractacus Potts. Dick van Dyke played Caractucus in the 60's movie version of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" while Sally Ann Howes played the part of Truly Scrumptious.
In the West End version, the car flew over the stage. The part of the Childcatcher was played by Richard O'Brien, who wrote and played a part in "Rocky Horror Picture Show."
His grandmother.. He recieved it from his grandmother after she died. Now, the only time he takes it off is if it doesn't fit, and even then he wears it on a chain around his neck.
He almost lost the ring once when he was sunbathing. He took it off because of sunscreen, then forgot about it and picked his blanket up. His friends and him searched for hours, but finally found it.
A Love Story. In this album, he tells the story of falling into and out of love. He sings many popular songs, including "You Had Me From Hello," "Time In A Bottle," and "Me and My Shadow," which is a duet with Antonio Banderas.

Me And My Shadow. Just before they were going to record this song, which was the last song that needed to be recorded, the New York City blackout occurred. Unfortunately, the recording needed to be completed soon, so they scrambled to find a studio that had enough electricity to record it. The next morning, they recieved a call from Sony studios.
A parachute accident.. He did have his tonsils out, which caused him many problems, but it was the parachute accident that left him in agony.
Alone Together. All he had to accompany him was his pianist. It was performed at the Donmar Theatre.
First Love. It's also the name of one of his albums. Here is the story of the rose "First Love" in his words, from an interview done in 1995, after his SO's sister died.
"When Angela died, we all got a rose bush. One was put on her grave and then each of the members of the family have one in the garden. The name of the rose was 'First Love' which is the album I'm bringing out. It was just a symbol, really, for Angela. So all the money we make from the single is going to ROC, Research into Ovarian Cancer."
