Barnes, Jimmy
Cold Chisel. Cold Chisel were the definitive Australian pub-rock band. They were one of the most popular and successful Australian groups ever. The legend of "The Chisels" lives on!
In the bath. The album cover shows Jimmy asleep in a bathtub wearing a bandanna. The motivation for the cover was Jacques-Louis David's 1793 painting "The Death of Marat".
John Swan. One of the finest singers in the country, John Swan has been part of the Australian music industry since his early teens. He has toured with international acts such as AC/DC, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple, Tina Turner and many more. He passed up the offer to become the lead singer of Cold Chisel, suggesting his younger brother Jimmy for the role. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Tin Lids. Four of Jimmy's children (Mahalia, Eliza-Jane, Elly-May and Jackie) formed a band called The Tin Lids. They went on to release three albums after the success of their first single. All the children now have flourishing musical careers.
Geffen. Jimmy signed to Geffen records in 1985. Whilst with Geffen he recorded the tracks for the legendary "Working Class Man" album. The title track from the album was used by film maker Ron Howard in his movie "Gung Ho".
David Campbell. David Campbell has performed and recorded a large variety of music, from swing to classics to rock. He has presented cabaret in New York and has had celebrated roles in productions such as "Sunset Boulevard" and "Les Miserables".
Mick Fleetwood. Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mac fame) contributed to Jimmy's "For The Working Class Man" album by playing drums in "Ride the Night Away" and "Without Your Love".
Tina Turner. Jimmy's version of "Simply The Best" was recorded as a duet with Tina Turner in 1992. The single instantly entered the Top 40 in Australia.
Scotland. James Dixon Swan (aka Jimmy Barnes) was born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 28, 1956. In 1961 he moved to South Australia with his family. His mother remarried a gentleman named Reg Barnes. With the exception of older brother John, the Swan children changed their surname to Barnes. John later became known as Swanee and recorded albums under that name for many years.

Wildlife Warriors. Inspired by his profound love of wildlife and the natural environment, the late Steve Irwin established Wildlife Warriors in 2002. Jimmy became a global ambassador to help raise the profile of wildlife in need.
I'm Still On Your Side. "I'm Still On Your Side" is from Jimmy's 1987 album "Freight Train Heart". The album was a huge success and featured guest artists such as Huey Lewis (backing vocals and harmonica), Johnny Diesel and Rick Brewster (rhythm guitars).

INXS. "Good Times" was released in the late '80s to coincide with 'Australian Made', a huge national tour celebrating Australian music. The song was included on the soundtrack of the movie 'The Lost Boys'.
Lay Down Your Guns. "Lay Down Your Guns" is on Barnesy's 1990 album "Two Fires". The album produced five singles, was his fifth solo album and fifth Australian Number One release on the ARIA charts.

Rugby League. Jimmy and Tina's version of the song was a Top 40 single in Australia and was used in a campaign to promote New South Wales Rugby League. Around this time Jimmy won two ARIA awards for 'Best Male Artist' and 'Highest Selling Album'.
Out In The Blue. After being ordered on bed rest after heart surgery in early 2007, Jimmy spent time in reflection and wrote his 14th solo album. "Out In The Blue" is the title track from the resulting release.
