Beautiful South
Welcome To The Beautiful South. "Welcome To..." was the first album released all the way back in 1989. Three singles were released in the UK from this album.
"There's no more little secrets we haven't yet disclosed, we bore the living daylights of anyone too close". These are lyrics from which song? | Wonderful Beautiful South

We Are Each Other. "We Are Each Other" reached the dizzy heights of number 30 in the UK singles chart in 1992. A lovely song about those annoying couples who literally are each other!
A Little Time. "A Little Time" reached the dizzy heights of the top of the charts in October 1990. A lovely ditty about a relationship breaking down and the ensuing arguements, this song stayed in the UK charts for a total of 14 weeks. The video also received several awards!
The vast majority of all Beautiful South songs are written by the same two band members- Paul Heaton and which other member? | Wonderful Beautiful South

David Rotheray. Paul Heaton is the man who writes some wonderful, yet often acscerbic, lyrics, whilst David Rotheray makes those wonderful melodies that are a trademark of the band.
Four. Tricky that one :-) In total four singles were released from the album: "Perfect 10", "Dumb", "How Long's A Tear Take To Dry", and "The Table". Out of these, "Perfect 10" was by far and away the most successful, reaching number 2 in the UK singles chart.
Eleven. 11 tracks of loveliness! This 1990 album contained 3 hit singles, including "A Little Time", which hit the number 1 spot in the singles chart in the UK. The album also contains a great instrumental, "The Rising Of Grafton Street". Grafton Street is in the centre of Hull and still a place where the band can be seen having a beer!
"Think of you with pipe and slippers, Think of her in bed, Laying there just watching telly, Then think of me instead" - Lyrics from which song? | Wonderful Beautiful South
|
Don't Marry Her. This number 8 hit single had to be changed from the version on the album "Blue Is The Colour". The song describes being kneed in the "Sandy Bullocks" (no guesses what the original lyrics were!) and also had the "F-word" during the chorus.
And finally.... this is an absolute stinker! What was the highest chart position the single "Old Red Eyes Is Back" reached in the UK singles chart in 1992? | Wonderful Beautiful South

22. This wonderful romp of a song, taken from the 3rd album "0898", only reached No.22! It actually only spent a total of 6 weeks in the top 75, too! Some people have no taste :-) But if it's any consolation, it's my favourite song that I often sing on karaoke!
A Little Time. From the album "Choke".
I'll Sail This Ship Alone. From the album "Welcome to the Beautiful South". This album was banned from some shops as the cover depicted a woman pointing a gun in her mouth. An alternative cover with teddy bears was released. The original cover was an anti-smoking message.
Bell Bottomed Tear. From the album "0898". The title comes from the dialing code for UK premium rate hotlines.
Prettiest Eyes. From the album "Miaow". This album also had two different covers as the original was banned from the music shop HMV as they said it looked too much like their logo.
"The whole place is pickled, the people are pickles for sure". Which song are these lyrics from? | Beautiful South Lyrics
