Flaming Lips
Oklahoma City. Okay, so that was an easy one. This fact makes them easily some of the finest rockers OKC has ever produced.
William Shatner. The Lips appearently beat out several other B-list celebrites and oddballs to land the commercial of their dreams. Who says they don't sell out?

How Will We Know? (Futuristic Crashendos). It had nothing to do with the lyrical content of the song- instead, it was the actual sound which necessitated the waring. This song uses high and low frequencies played at the same time which can cause a person to become dizzy, disoriented, and sometimes sick. The album has a warning on it describing what may happen when listening to this song.
Tape decks of 50 or so cars each playing different sounds at the same time. Wayne would synchronize the tape decks of 50 or so cars in underground parking garages so that they would all play different noises or sounds and create a symphony of sound. These experiments were held circa 1996-1997. This led Wayne to develop more experiments with multiple sources, and the eventual four discs at the same time as the album "Zaireeka".
Dave Fridmann. Dave is a producer of some regard in the avant-garde rock comunity. He has worked with such bands as the Lips and Mercury Rev.

Upstate New York. Dave Fridmann has a studio in upstate New York where they have recorded these three albums. Micheal Ivins even moved to Fredonia, NY, to become the regular engineer in the studio.
Steven Drozd. He had a rare spider bite him and the infection became quite serious. This episode was the basis for a song on the "The Soft Bulletin".
Beverly Hills 90210. They performed their single "She don't use Jelly" in 1992.
"White Christmas". Quite an usual recording for them. What will the future hold? Their first feature-length movie, "Christmas on Mars", is scheduled to be released in time for the holidays, 2003.
The Gash. All of these were off of The Flaming Lips’ ninth album “The Soft Bulletin.” It was the last Flaming Lips album of the 20th Century.
It’s Summertime. These are all tracks from The Lips tenth album “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.” While on tour for this album The Lips played as the opening and the back up band for alternative legend Beck.

Free Radicals. The Flaming Lips eleventh album, “At War With the Mystics” was released in April 2006. All of these tracks are from that album, but “Mr. Ambulance Driver” was originally released on “The Wedding Crashers” soundtrack.
There You Are. All of these are off of The Lips fourth album, “In a Priest Driven Ambulance”, except “Jesus Shooting Heroin” which was on their very first LP entitled “Hear it is!” Incidentally, “Shine on Sweet Jesus” and “God Walks Among Us Now” Are Jesus songs No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
You Have to be Joking. All of these are off the fifth album: “Hit to Death in the Future Head.” As well as a very strange untitled thirty minute bonus track.

What is the Light?. These are all from “The Soft Bulletin.” This album has often been compared to the album “Pet Sounds” by The Beach Boys.
Ginger ale Afternoon. These are more great tracks from “Hit to Death in the Future Head." That album marked The Lips major label debut on Warner Brothers.
My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion. These songs are from “At War With the Mystics." This album was nominated for best Alternative Album at the 2006 Grammy Awards. The track “The Wizard Turns On…” won the Grammy that year for the Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon. “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” also scored at the Grammy Awards as “Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon” won the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 2002. Incidentally, Pavonis Mons is the middle of three volcanoes on the planet Mars collectively known as Tharsis Montes
