Donald Trump. The song is dedicated to Millionaire, Donald Trump. Fogelberg sings, 'Sitting pretty in your trophy room.. Just reminds you of the wasted time and the lateness of the year.'
Loneliness. This is a song about loneliness in the elderly population. The song is about a widow who rarely gets out and rarely has contact with others. It is a very sad reality for many seniors who's loved ones have either passed on or moved away.

Peoria, IL. Dan was the youngest of three sons of Margaret (née Young), a classically-trained pianist, and Lawrence Peter Fogelberg, a high school band director.
Home Free. Released in 1972, it contains "To The Morning" which he would typically open his solo acoustic concerts with. "This was the first song that made me think I might actually make it as a songwriter."
Souvenirs. Released in in 1974 and powered by the single "Part of the Plan," "Souvenirs" became his first in a string of seven consecutive platinum albums.
Credits on the album include Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Glen Frey, Graham Nash and Gerry Beckley (America).
Longer. Longer reached #2 on the Billboard charts in 1980.

"The song I jokingly refer to as the song that put me on the elevators. I wrote it on a vacation on Maui in 1979 while lounging on a hammock one night looking up at the stars. It seems this song was drifting around the universe, saw me, and decided I'd give it a good home."
Leader of the Band. From the liner notes on "Portrait: The Music of Dan Fogelberg":
"A one day wonder that I would never have dreamed could have been a hit...One of my most emotional memories was playing it for my father the first time."
In concert Dan would always comment that if there was only one song he could have ever written, this would have been it.
Same Old Lang Syne. A wonderful example of his storytelling ability. It is a narrative ballad told in the first-person. Despite only mentioning Christmas Eve in the song once, this song is frequently played during the holiday season and is integrated with other traditional Christmas songs. This fact makes the song one of Fogelberg's most popular hits.
Peaked at #9 on the charts in 1980.
