Loretta married Oliver Lynn, whom everyone called 'Doolittle' when she was thirteen years old. Doo, as Loretta called him, gave her a guitar for her eighteenth birthday. He noticed how well she could sing and thought that she should try to get into singing. Loretta got her big break when she was entered into a talent contest and took home first prize.
