Flinch. "Flinch" was inspired by a real-life encounter that mirrors the last verse in the song.
The course of a lifetime you'll never forget. This song comes from the 2004 album "So-Called Chaos". According to Alanis, it's lyrics came from the fact that there are so many "# Step Programs That Will Change [insert undesirable quality]" out there, she felt compelled to write a sarcastic version. In a song. And at 2:52 minutes long, it's one of her shortest songs yet.
While most of Alanis Morissette's songs have a certain degree of whining in them, the track "One" from "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" took this statement to new limits. For example "Did you just call her amazing? / Surely we both can't be amazing!"
Anyways, what two words are missing from this lyric, taken from "One"?:
"I have been loud and --- , I have been --- threatened" | Next Whines - Alanis Morissette Lyrics
|
Pretentious / Utterly. This song appears to be a collection of Alanis' neediest whines. It seems to reflect on some of the feelings and experiences she's had during her early celebrity years, and is quite a nice tune. Comes with incoherent screams at the end too.
I am the harm that you inflict. Alanis is no stranger to film soundtracks, having made contributions to the films "Dogma" (in which she played God), "City of Angels", "De-Lovely", and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe".
To watch the stoic squirm. This song was Alanis' contribution to the "City of Angels" soundtrack, and won her two Grammy awards in 1999: "Best Rock Song" and "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance".
You Learn. Naming albums after a lyric on one of its tracks became a trend with Alanis, which was only broken when she named "So-Called Chaos" after its sixth track. "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" was a line in "So Pure", "Under Rug Swept" was part of the bridge on "Hands Clean", and "Feast On Scraps" was featured in a lyric from "Bent For You".
It's all your fault. Those two lines came from the chorus of the song "Head Over Feet", from "Jagged Little Pill". Another single from the album, the video featured deliberatley awful lip synching and was filmed in the dark at her home.
Miss Morissette contributed to the "Prayer Cycle" album with a song named "Mercy". In this song, Alanis sings a segment in a language that is not English. What language is it? | Next Whines - Alanis Morissette Lyrics
|
Hungarian. A rarity that became a part of her greatest hits album, "The Collection", in 2005. She also lent her vocals to another few song songs on the "Prayer Cycle" album, and sung in French at one point.
Well, that's the end. Thanks for playing, and thanks to Flynn_17 for continually pushing me, over and over, to do this quiz. He helped with the intro and a few questions too.
Seeing as I put so much hard work into this, you should probably give me a decent rating...
