come on . From 'Song For The Dead'. Most of the songs on the album were written by Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri. Other writers included Mario Lalli and Mark Lanegan.
fall. From 'Do It Again'. QOTSA released their self-titled debut album in 1998.
Dave Grohl . Dave Grohl is the former drummer for Nirvana, and is the founder and lead singer/guitarist for the Foo Fighters. He took a break from the Foo Fighters to record the album.
deer . Watching this hilarious video was the first time I heard the band. I saw Dave Grohl playing the drums and instantly bought the CD and fell in love with it.
'Mosquito Song'. 'Mosquito Song' is the last song on the album and is considered a hidden track.
track list. There is a drawing on a sperm in an egg, a picture all of the band members, and a steering wheel (in the picture of the inside of a car). The track list is only on the back of the album.
QOTSA . Josh Homme was once the primary songwriter of Kyuss, until they broke up in 1995.
The Butcher and the Butterfly. "The Butcher and the Butterfly" was written by K.J Garside, B. Howard, J. Norton and J. Wood.
FM Doll. The album was engineered by Robert James Joplin, the nephew of hippy queen Janis Joplin.
Racing Towards the Sun. Katie Jane Garside described this song as a "euphoric trip on danger and daring" to MTV.
Ascending Stars. Lead singer Katie Jane invited her sister to join the band, and "Ascending Stars" was the first song they performed together with both Ms. Garsides.
Black Spring Rising. "Cold Light of Day", "In Red" and "Black Spring Rising" all make regular appearances on Queenadreena's set lists. "Dorothy" is not a song performed by Queenadreena- a little trick question thrown in there!
Birdnest Hair. The mellowest song on the entire album, "Birdnest Hair" was written by K. J Garside, C. Gray, M. Garside and A. Gray.
In Red. "In Red" was originally recorded as a demo for a song to be performed by The Breeders, but was turned down and ended up being recorded by Queenadreena themselves.
Suck. "Suck" was the first song released from the album, reaching no. 27 in the US charts and landing in at no. 55 in the UK charts.
Cold Light of Day. "Drink Me" apears on the 2001 album of the same name. The other two songs, as well as "Cold Light of Day" appear on "The Butcher and the Butterfly".
Medicine Jar. The second song on the album, "Medicine Jar" is a fast, angry song written by the band themselves.
Yes. Previous albums, "Taxidermy" and "Drink Me" were released on the Warner label.
Rip my dress. "And confess" and "Climb the walls" are other lyrics in the song, but "Cover up your mess" is from the song "FM Doll", which also appeares on the album.
The opening lines to the title song. The opening lines of the title song appear on the back cover of the sleeve:
"There's a finger missing on my right hand,
A butcher's hand and a butterfly wing span,
The sky hangs on a thread as I paint the white picket fence red,
Said am I alive or am I dead?"
Photos of the band appear on the inside cover of the sleeve, a picture of Katie Jane dancing appears on the back of the CD case and the words "One Little Indian presents..." don't appear on the album at all.
3. During tours or gigs, Katie Jane has a penchant for wearing her bright pink lipstick smudged. This has become her trademark, as has wearing next to nothing!
No. Out of three albums that Queen Adreena recorded- which include "Taxidermy", "Drink Me" and "The Butcher and the Butterfly", only their first and third were released in the UK. "Drink Me" was NOT released in the U.K.
Everyone, everywhere, all the time. In the bottom right hand corner of the album, there is a little logo, which reads: "Queens Of The Stone Age. R. Restricted to everyone, everywhere, all the time". Despite this warning, this album brought QOTSA worldwide acclaim and success. (Suggesting that many people bought it!)
Rated X. It was called "Rated X" mainly because of the pornographic material it contained. The record included some bonus tracks, which were later added to various 'special edition' "Rated Rs". It has no barcode (?) and its ref number seems to be 000 000-0.
The first song, "Feel Good Hit Of The Summer", is about drugs. Their names make up most of the lyrics. How many lyrics aren't the names of the seven drugs? (Not including "OOHs, OHs, YEAHs, ANDs etc!) | Queens Of The Stone Age - 'Rated R'
|
0. The lyrics are just those seven drugs!
Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, Marijuana, Ecstacy, Alcohol, Cocaine. "Cocaine" is sung "C-c-c-c-c-coCAINE" and "C-COcaine". The first 6 drugs are sung in one sort of verse, with "cocaine" in a chorusy thing.
No. Nick Oliveri sings the lead vocals for "Autopilot", "Quick And To The Pointless" and "Tension Head", and Mark Lanegan is on the lead vocals for "In The Fade"
blue. This is from the song "Better Living Through Chemistry".
