White Album
According to 'Ob-la'di, Ob-la-da', what is Desmond and Molly's last name? | The White Album
|
Jones. 'With a couple of kids running in the yard, of Desmond and Molly *Jones*.'
Julian Lennon. John wrote 'Beautiful Boy' for Sean, 'Good Night' for Julian, and a plethera of meaningless songs for Yoko.
What they need's a dam good whacking, 'Piggies'. George was discussing this song with his mom one day, and she told him what those piggies needed was *a darn good whacking*
I am the Walrus. 'Strawberrry Fields Forever' is mentioned first, following 'I am the Walrus.' Or should I say, Paul is the Walrus ...
According to 'Back in the U.S.S.R' what seems to always be on Paul's mind? | The White Album
|
Georgia. 'And Ukraine girls really knock me out. They leave the West behind. And Moscow girls make me sing and shout, that *Georgia's* always on my mind.'
Sir Walter Raleigh. 'And curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.'
Inside the booklet, who is pictured naked, and talking on the phone? | The White Album
|
John. He's sitting up, and Yoko is lying right beside him.
Who was smiling and arriving late for tea, according to 'Cry Baby Cry'? | The White Album
|
Duchess of Kircaldy. In 'Cry Baby Cry', the king of Marigold is in the kitchen cooking breakfast for the queen, Sexy Sadie and Helter Skelter are both seperate songs, and the Duchess of Kircaldy is our winner.
In the large picture insert, who is the only Beatle shown that does not have facial hair? | The White Album
|
John. George and Ringo both have a mustache, and Paul has stubble of a mustache and a beard. What a babe!
Bungalow Bill. Rocky Raccoon sounds like he would fit that description, but it was Bungalow Bill.
What alcoholic beverage does the doctor come in, stinking of, according to Rocky Raccoon? | The White Album
|
Gin. 'The Doctor came in, stinking of *Gin*, and proceded to lie on the table.'
Half of what he says. 'Half of what I say is meaningless. But I say it just to reach you, Julia.' (It's the very first line in that song)
What obvious mistake does Paul make when singing Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da? | The White Album
|
He sings Desmond instead of Molly, when referring to doing their pretty face. In an interview, Paul said that he accidentally sang 'Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face.' When he notices it afterwards, they decide to leave it, causing the audience to question Desmond's sexuality.
Helter Skelter. While Charles Manson claimed that "Piggies," "Revolution 9" and "Rocky Raccoon" had messages in them that he interpreted as incitements to murder, the most famous was "Helter Skelter," (because it was written in blood at the scene of the murder committed by Manson's "Family" [misspelled]) which U2 played at a concert after saying that Charles Manson stole it from the Beatles.
Wild Honey Pie. "Wild Honey Pie," at 1 minute 2 seconds, is the shortest of thirty songs. "Can You Take Me Back,?" which is about thirty seconds long, is not listed as a separate track on any record or compact disc.
Happiness is a Warm Gun. "When I hold you in my arms and I feel my finger on your trigger, I know nobody can do me no harm because Happiness is a Warm Gun." In the Kinfauns demos, a line very similar to this is heard in "I'm so tired."
How many times does John say, "All the children sing" on "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill?" | The Beatles White Album
|
3. This phrase comes just before the lyric "Hey, Bungalow Bill! What did you kill, Bungalow Bill?" There seems to be a high-pitched beep right after the third time John says "All the children sing."
4. George wrote "Piggies," "Savoy Truffle," "Long, Long, Long" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
Good Night. "Good Night" was written by John Lennon as a lullaby for his five-year-old son John Charles Julian Lennon and sung by Ringo Starr, along with the Mike Sammes Singers in the choir.
November 1968. The Beatles (the White Album) was released in the United Kingdom on November 22nd, 1968 and 3 days later in the U.S. The Yellow Submarine Soundtrack was the next release on January 17th, only 56 days later, the shortest gap between major releases.
Yoko Ono. John's then-girlfriend Yoko Ono sang this line, making her the first woman to sing lead on a Beatles record. Thank God it only lasted one-and-a-half seconds.
Linda McCartney. Yoko Ono sang on "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill," "Birthday" and (not exactly sang) on "Revolution 9." Patti Harrison sang on "Birthday." Maureen Starkey sang on "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill."
Revolution 9. At eight minutes and thirteen seconds, it was the longest non-live Beatles composition. John said about the song (which required days of recording and editing and basically people throwing tape around in the air and putting it together randomly) that he wanted to see what the revolution might sound like, and it came off too violent-sounding. I couldn't agree more.
I Will. Paul performed "Blackbird" with only his voice, acoustic guitar, foot tapping, and a blackbird helped. John, Paul and George were not present for the recording of "Good Night." John performed "Julia" with his voice and acoustic guitar. "I Will" had only Paul and Ringo (and possibly John).
Lennon. Julia Lennon, mother of John and wife of Alfred, was killed by a speeding car while leaving her sister's house on July 15th, 1958 when her son was 17. Farrow was the last name of Mia and Prudence, who were in India the same time as the Beatles. McGear is the last name of Paul's brother Mike.
The Inner Light. "The Inner Light" was recorded in February 1968 and ended up the B-side of the "Lady Madonna" single.

Jones. I first heard this song on the 80s TV show "Life Goes On" about the family of a young man with Downs Syndrome
What's the line in "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" that is said by different voices right before the chorus? | Beatles: White Album
|
All the Children Sing.... This song is actually a true story....his name was Richard A. Cooke III, and he really did shoot a tiger while hunting with his mother...
What did "the man in the crowd with the multicolored mirror on his hobnail boots" eat and donate to the National Trust in "Happiness is a Warm Gun"? | Beatles: White Album
|
a soap impression of his wife. John was in fact parodying the US gun lobby, not sympathizing with it.
She was in a car crash and lost her hair. How does one lose one's hair in a car crash? Ringo actually wrote this in 1964, but it wasn't recorded until here in '68
