I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today. Written by Matraca Berg and Jim Collins.
Gretchen's tour bus is named "Buss 27" because 27 is her lucky number. It's also how old she was when she had Grace.
Redneck Woman. This song was her first song and was very popular, spending five weeks at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and was the debut song off her first album, "Here for the Party", which topped US Country Charts in 2004 and reached #2 on the Billboard 200. The song "Here for the Party" was also successful, reaching #3 on the country chart. "Homewrecker" reached #2, while "All Jacked Up" hit #7 and came off her sophmore album of the same name (which reached #1).
Grace. Gretchen had Grace with ex-boyfriend Mike Penner when she was 27. Her full name is Grace Frances Penner, her middle name is after Gretchen's grandma who greatly impacted her life. Amy is Gretchen's brother's wife's name, Vickie is Gretchen's aunt's name, and Christine is her mom's name.
One of the Boys. The debut single off of "One of the Boys" is "Come to Bed". "One Bud Wiser" and "Not Bad for a Bartender" are both off the album "All Jacked Up". "When it Rains" is off of her debut album "Here for the Party".
Big&Rich. Big Kenny and John Rich (Big&Rich) stopped in on Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar to have a drink and to hear a good band people had been talking about. They heard Gretchen (who was also the bartender at the time) sing "Lady Marmalade" by Labelle and "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Loved You)" by Aretha Franklin. They were blown away and John walked up to talk to her. She blew him off at first, but after a month or two she called him back and they worked together to launch her career. Ever since Big&Rich and Gretchen have worked together and are good friends.
The MuzikMafia. John Rich and Big Kenny were tired of the frustrating standard business and the safe, mainstream choices that controlled most record deals. So they and two other people- Jon Nicholson and Cory Gierman- formed the loose association Muzik Mafia. Mafia stands for Musically Artistic Friends In Alliance. They would get together on a regular basis and bounce songs off each other, write them, sing them, and play them. There they could get honest feedback from their friends. The group got bigger and bigger. When Gretchen Wilson joined, she became the official "Godmother". The Muzik Mafia has helped many people's success. The other three choices are made-up (at least I think they are!).
They are all her influences!. Gretchen Wilson has a lot of other influences too. But I bet she is an influence to a lot of people out there also!
