Chicago Bears
Decatur Staleys. The Decatur Staleys was the original name in 1920, before they moved to Chicago the following year. In 1921 they were called the Chicago Staleys. They became the Chicago Bears in 1922.
George Halas. The great George Halas founded the Bears and coached from 1920-1929, 1933-1942, 1946-1955 and 1958-1967.
The University of Illinois. Halas played college ball for the University of Illinois. Their color scheme was navy and orange which is why the Bears wear that color.
