Florida Marlins
Jim Leyland. Leyland managed in 1997 and 1998. Lachermann managed from 1993 to 1995. Boles managed from 1999 to 2001. Perez, a Hall of Famer with the Reds, took over in 2001.

Carl Pavano. Pavano pitched 201 innings, compared to Redman's 190, Beckett's 142, and Willis' 160. Pavano (a 13th round Red Sox pick in 1994) was the guy traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Montreal Expos for Pedro Martinez. In 2002, Pavano was part an 8-player deal between the Expos and the Marlins.
Miguel Cabrera . The Venezuelan born Third-baseman/Left fiedler was 20 years old when he debuted in 2003, after a Double-A promotion. Cabrera is a year younger than Dontrelle Willis.
Miguel Cabrera. Miguel Cabrera hit .334 and was barely edged out by Freddy Sanchez of the Pirates and his .339 for the NL batting title.

Joe Borchard, Wes Helms. Borchard and Helms anchored maybe the best bench in baseball in 2006. Also in that game, Miguel Cabrera hit a pitch that was suppose to intentionally walk him.
Joe Borowski. Joe was a former closer for the Cubs from 2001 to 2003. Joe had 36 saves becoming an elite closer in the NL. The Marlins got him via free agency from the D-Rays.
4th Place. In finishing in 4th, the Marlins had one of the most improbable seasons in MLB history. They went from 20 games under .500 back to .500 in a span of three months.
Rene Lachemann. It was Lachemann's first managing job since 1984 when he managed the Milwaukee Brewers. He led the Marlins to 64 wins in 1993, and never won more than 67 games in a season with the Marlins. He was given the boot in 1996.
Livan Hernandez and Josh Beckett. Two pitchers that sort of came out of nowhere in their respective years, and dominated the postseason.

Bret Barberie. It was the little known Bret Barberie that formed the double-play tandem with the better known Walt Weiss at shortstop. Barberie played 97 games at second base for the Marlins that season, finishing with a .277 batting average.

Orestes Destrade. Destrade, whom had brief stints with both the Pirates and New York Yankees, led the Marlins' lackluster offense with 20 dingers. Destrade was out of Major League Baseball by the next season.
