UPA. The U.P.A. is the Ultimate Players' Association.

cup. This is because the cup must position itself around EACH opponent who EVER gets the disc.
|What is the style of defense wherein at least three players form a cup around the person with the disc, while their teammates each take responsibility for a certain region of the field?||Ultimate Frisbee
zone. The idea is twofold. 1) Prevent long throws down the field. 2) Force a large number of short throws, until a mistake is made and the disc is literally 'thrown' away.
|Once someone has taken possession of the disc, how long does he or she have to try to pass it?||Ultimate Frisbee
10 seconds. The nearest defender marks the time by yelling 'Stall-ONE! Stall-TWO! etc.'
|What is the style of defense most often used against the line in Question 4?||Ultimate Frisbee
man-to-man. Man-to-man involves each defender selecting, or 'marking', a member of the opposing team, to follow across the field and prevent from getting open. The four-man cup is a variation of zone defense.
|Once in the aforementioned line, players must dash out one-by-one, attempting to get themselves free and open in order to catch a pass. What is this action called?||Ultimate Frisbee
a cut. Making a good cut usually involves at least one sharp change of direction, to evade defenders.
|One of the first strategies new players learn is that, when their team has the disk, they must get into a straight line running down the field and facing their disc-holding teammate. What is this line called?||Ultimate Frisbee
the stack. Players are told to 'stack it up.'
|Players are expected to self-referee. They call and admit their own fouls, and must not intentionally foul. This policy of sportsmanship is called what?||Ultimate Frisbee
the spirit of the game. The rule works better than you might think. In men's leagues, it is sometimes described as the fact that Ultimate is "a gentleman's sport." Thanks to player Matt685 for pointing this out!
|Ultimate Frisbee is also similar to basketball, in that what action is forbidden?||Ultimate Frisbee

|The sole way to score in Ultimate Frisbee is similar to a football touchdown: you must catch a pass in the endzone. How many points is this worth?||Ultimate Frisbee
1. You can't, however, run into the endzone with the disc. See Question 2.
Hammer. Hammer is the accepted term because once the disc leaves your hand, it flies off at a forty-five degree angle, eventually leveling off upside down, and falling into your teammate's hands (or the ground).
175 grams. Ultimate discs are "heavy" but they need to be for a fast paced, fast action game. 160 g. is for freestyle discs, while disc golf "putters" and "drivers" weigh between 165 g. and 174 g.
stack. The stack is where the other six players on the field arrange themselves into a single file line in front of the handler. Cuts are then made towards the disc.
t. An ultimate field, including end-zones, is 120 yards long (the field is 70 yards, with each end zone being 25 yards), and only 40 yards wide. Football fields, including end-zones, are 120 yards long (field is 100 yards, each end zone is 10 yards) and about 53 yards wide.
The pull. The pull occurs at the beginning of every game and after every score just as a kickoff does in football. A deep throw, called a huck is to ultimate what the Hail Mary is to football.
Ultimate Players Association. Inaugurated in 1980, the UPA initially had 9 members, and at the end of the 20th century, they had grown to 15,000 with sponsored events all over the globe. The World Flying Disc Federation is similar to the UPA however, they sponsor other disc sports such as golf, not just ultimate.
