The founding fathers of field Handball were German physical education experts, who gained recognition for field Handball as a separate sport at the turn of the century, based on the games of Raffbal(snatch ball) and Koningsbergball. In 1917, a German called Max Haiser and drew up the first set of rules for field Handball. In 1919, Berlin sports teacher Karl Schelenz launched this form of Handball, played on full-size outdoor pitch. Later on he improved the rules. In 1938 the first field Handball WC was also played in Germany.
Architect of African Handball. Babacar Fall, a former vice president of the IHF(International Handball Federation), president of African Handball Confederation, and president of Senegal Handball Association died 1993. For nearly 30 years he was active in Handball, and his work gained recognition when three major events were awarded to Africa: the 1986 Congress in Senegal, the 1989 Junior WC in Nigeria, and 1993 Junior WC in Egypt

Anja Andersen. One of the best players of the world was the Danish player Anja Andersen. She was succesful even as a manager, where she made Slagelse twice a Champions League holder. In the season 2004/05, they lost only one game and that was from Kometal GP Skopje with a result of 20:12, one of the heaviest defeats for Slagelse.
Kometal Gjorce Petrov Skopje. Kometal Gjorce Petrov was the surprise of the year by being champions of the season. They started the journey from the very first round defeating Spono Nottwil from Switzerland.
Slovenia. Krim Ljubljana is coming from Slovenia and right from its capital, Ljubljana. This team has won the championship twice. Once in the season 2000/01 and again in the season 2002/03.
Dunaferr. This team won the title in the season 1998/99, where they defeated Krim Ljubljana from Slovenia. Both teams were playing under pressure in the two games, since the first result in Hungary was 25:23 for Dunaferr. The return game in Ljubljana ended 26:26.
