Oakland Athletics
Tony LaRussa . LaRussa managed the A's from 1986 to 1995. LaRussa now manages the Cardinals.
Five. Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Dave Stewart, Terry Steinbach, Mike Moore.
f. Henderson was on the 1993 Toronto Blue Jays team, after winning one with the A's in 1989. Henderson was traded to Toronto in 1993.
Dennis Eckersley. Eckersley retired in 1998 after a stint with the Red Sox at the age of 43.
Catcher. Steinbach retired in 1999 with the Twins.
Outfield. Henderson is now a member of the Red Sox at age 43. He has little playing time becasue of his age, but fills in for injured players and pinch-runs.
Jose Canseco. Canseco was playing for the Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox when he made the announcement.
Second Base. Phillips retired in 1999.

They finished 8th or lower, 7 times in Kansas City. Their attendance had dropped from almost 1.4 million per season, to just over 528,000. It was time to move.
1972. By beating the Detroit Tigers for the American League Championship, they earned the right to do battle with the National League champion Cincinnati Reds. They beat the Reds 4 games to 3, in a close World Series battle all the way. Catfish Hunter won the 7th game, and Gene Tenace was named World Series MVP.
