The once deserted beach was now the site of a major town development. Teahupoo. Teahupoo (pronounced Cho-pu) was first popularized by thrill-seeking bodyboarders in the late '80s and early '90s. It's now the location of the Tahiti Billabong Pro, capable of producing some of the most spectacular barrel rides in the world. The wave shape is very unique, throwing dangerously large amounts of water from the lip and breaking on to a sometimes dry reef which is sucked clean by the build up of the wave. This makes Teahupoo one of the most dangerous waves on the planet.

The Malibu is the generic longboard shape, anything from 9' to 16' in length, the mini-mal is the typical beginners' board in the range of 7' to 9' in length.
