|What was Ally wearing when she impulsively had sex in the car wash?||"Ally McBeal"
A red and white striped shirt. Ally has been seen in her gym clothes while in a kick-boxing match with Georgia, and she danced in the snow with her cow-print pajamas. She wears short skirts to work almost every day. However, it's the red and white striped shirt that we can plainly see in her flashbacks of sex in the car wash.
Nelle's. Billy never hallucinated that Elaine's breasts grew. Georgia's were already pretty big. Ally imagined that her own breasts got bigger, but Nelle was the one whose chest Billy hallucinated about.
Tracy. At first, Ally mistook Larry for a therapist. He was actually a lawyer. Rosie O'Donnell and Bruce Willis were both guest stars who filled in for Tracy, Ally's therapist.

"Perhaps you should leave." ||"Ally McBeal" Quotes: Season Two
Richard and John. This exchange was taken from episode ten of season two, "Making Spirits Bright".
Richard: "All right, look. She's just a woman. You're intimidated by her beauty, the long legs, the incredible hair, the porcelain face... That's probably it!"
Richard: "The porcelain! She reminds you of your toilet."
John: "Perhaps you should leave."
John has been trying to sneak up on Nelle in order to give her a Christmas kiss but keeps being foiled in his attempts. Richard says he thinks John is afraid to kiss her, however, John explains that they already kissed but he feels like it is his turn to take the initiative because usually it is Nelle who makes the first move.
Richard and Ling. These lines are spoken in episode nine of season two, "You Never Can Tell".
Ling: "Please don't call me that! I'm not sweet!"
Ling: "And not that either. Ever!"
This was the beginning of Richard starting to address Ling as an item of food such as honey, cupcake... or pork chop.
|"Last Saturday, I ran out in the morning to get some coffee, I bumped into somebody from my old firm. He didn't recognize me at first without my make up. Four years; I worked three offices away, he didn't recognize me."
"So, there are people who've never seen me without make up."
"*...*, when I hear you talk this way, it makes me wonder; is there a point?"
*...* = name of one of the speakers omitted||"Ally McBeal" Quotes: Season Two
Nelle and Ling. This exchange happened during the eighth episode of season two, "Just Looking".
Nelle: "Last Saturday, I ran out in the morning to get some coffee, I bumped into somebody from my old firm. He didn't recognize me at first without my make up. Four years; I worked three offices away, he didn't recognize me."
Nelle: "So, there are people who've never seen me without make up!"
Ling: "Nelle, when I hear you talk this way, it makes me wonder; is there a point?"
The question of wearing make up occurs to Nelle because she is in the middle of defending Ling in a trial concerning her mud wrestling club in which Ling is accused of promoting the objectification of women. Nelle realises the make up she wears is just more proof that despite other progress women have made in the workplace; women are 'still things to be looked at' and Ling's mud wrestling club doesn't help matters. She decides to continue with the case but won't do the summation.
|"Whatever my pain, I can take heart in not being you."
"That was very good! Did you know that you're my favourite vicious person in life?" ||"Ally McBeal" Quotes: Season Two
Ling and Elaine. This rather spiteful exchange took place in the seventh episode of season two, "Happy Trails".
Ling: "Whatever my pain, I can take heart in not being you."
Elaine: "That was very good! Did you know that you're my favourite vicious person in life?"
Elaine expresses delight at the fact that Ling has been upset at finding Whipper Cone naked in Richard's apartment and so Ling retaliates by saying her therapist has advised her to ignore people who don't matter (i.e. Elaine) and thus Elaine is helping her just by existing because it makes Ling feel better about herself.
"Don't tell me she's good?
"She's great! She's poised, she doesn't pull at her hair, nothing comes out of her mouth that she doesn't want to come out, she doesn't over gesticulate and she made a completely impossible cause of action seem totally believable."||"Ally McBeal" Quotes: Season Two
Elaine and Ally. This exchange is from the second episode of season two, "They Eat Horses, Don't They?"
Elaine: "What's wrong?"
Elaine: "Don't tell me she's good?"
Ally: "She's great! She's poised, she doesn't pull at her hair, nothing comes out of her mouth that she doesn't want to come out, she doesn't over gesticulate and she made a completely impossible cause of action seem totally believable."
Richard and John have just hired Nelle Porter to come and work at Cage and Fish, however Ally, Georgia and Elaine are not happy about this for various reasons. When Nelle agrees to represent Ling in a case concerning freedom of speech on the radio, some of the others at the firm think it is a lost cause but as Ally discovers in the deposition, Nelle is an excellent lawyer, a fact which annoys her more because she is also extremely good looking. The above quote is Ally complaining about this to Elaine.
Tracey and Ally. This exchange was from the first episode of season two "The Real World".
Tracey: "The most in-love time of your life was around the age of 18 with... what's his name?"
Ally has gone to see her therapist Tracey because she is worrying about the fact that she has begun to have 'impure thoughts' about an eighteen year old 'boy', Jason, who is a witness in the case she is trying. Tracey speculates that Ally associates love with being young, because being with Billy at 18 was the last time she felt it, and that is why she is attracted to someone so much younger than her.
Billy. During the Christmas party, Billy asked Ally if she remembered the Christmas Eve that he snuck into her house and filled her stocking, prompting Ally to respond with "you do remember everything, don't you?" In response to this, Billy produced some mistletoe and leaned over and kissed her.
Reindeers. Near the end of this episode, Elaine Vassal was seen performing a song at the firm's Christmas party. Midway through the song, John and Richard appeared on stage dressed as reindeer, dancing in unison.
Ally's theme song. When Ally went home, she found Renée dancing in front of the Christmas tree. When asked what she was doing, Renée replied that she was listening to Ally's theme song (Haley Scarnato's "Tell Him") in her head. Revealing that it seemed to work, she then asked Ally to join her, resulting in the pair of them dancing manically around the Christmas tree.
Renée Raddick. Renée said this to Ally as the pair were looking in a shop window. Admiring the sleepwear in the window, Ally said "Imagine being inside of those", prompting Renée to respond with the above quotation. Ally then replied that happiness was "getting into bed with anything that makes you feel warm and snuggled", but she would "just now settle for pyjamas".
A unicorn. Early on in this episode, the dismissal of one of the firm's biggest clients brought its lawyers' Christmas festivities to a standstill. Confident and reassuring at first, Richard Fish assured his client, Sheldon Maxwell, that every member of staff would be on the case. However when Sheldon told his lawyers the reason for his dismissal, Richard Fish was rather taken aback. For Maxwell revealed that his bosses thought he had lost his mind as he had seen a unicorn in his office.
John Cage. Nelle said these words to John Cage at the beginning of this episode, after noticing his attempts to sneak up on her. A flustered John then revealed that his actions were due to "the mistletoe", prompting Nelle to respond with, "You were going to kiss me?" Replying in the affirmative, John then leaned in to kiss Nelle, only to be interrupted by Richard Fish, who appeared completely unaware that the pair resented his intrusion.
