American Idol: Season 1
Motown. It put some of the finalists at a disadvantage, because Motown wasn't really their best genre to perform in. Nikki, Jim, and AJ all had trouble with their songs. Thanks for playing, and don't forget to keep watching!
paula . She was once pretty famous-- now, she's a judge on a reality TV show. Don't feel too bad, though, she's been mean to Simon.
randy . Randy Jackson is the one who almost got into physical fighting with Simon. He should pick on someone his own size-- might be tough finding somebody like that, though.
simon . He's the one providing all the nasty comments; he's blunt, but honest, so I just love him.
Kelly Clarkson. She's the adorable one. Simon says: "I don't know what to say. I don't actually remember you from the previous round."
RJ Helton. He's the one that Simon and Randy got in a fight over. He returned to compete in the Wild-Card show and proved himself worthy of the final round. Simon says: "You've got to raise the game...mechanical."
Christina Christian. She's a very straightforward, honest performer. Though her auditions can be hit or miss, she won Simon over by singing "Isn't he lovely?" right at him the first audition she had. So, he says: "I think I've got a crush."
Justin Guarini. Justin's the one with the curly blonde afro and is from Doylestown, PA. Simon says another nice thing: "We were asked what the X Factor is. It's very simple. It's you."
EJay Day. When one of the finalists was discovered to be lying about his age, they called in one of the runner-ups, EJay Day (who's from Georgia). Simon says: "Good, yes. American Idol, no." Also-- "You're not winning any points for that awful hat."
Tamyra Gray. She's from Maryland. Simon says-- only nice things! "This girl goes past the X Factor. She has Zed factor."
Ryan Starr. She hails from Sunland, CA, originally with the name of Tiffany Montgomery. Simon says: "The song was terrible, but I understand why people voted."
AJ Gil. He says he wants to win for his mom and his brothers, who live in Tacoma, WA. Simon says: "I think you're a boring performer. I think you've blown it."
Jim Verraros. For his Pasadena performance, he signed while he sang, so his parents would understand. Simon says: "If you win this competition, we [the judges] will have failed."
Nikki McKibbin. She's got a son, Tristan, and is from Grand Prairie, TX. This finalist is the "wild child" of the group. Simon says: "You look like you've had a daytime TV makeover."
Kelly Clarkson . On September 4, 2002, Kelly Clarkson of Burleson, Texas became THE American Idol on national television. The final show was watched by a staggering 28 million people. Congratulations Kelly!
Tiffany Montgomery. After becoming one of the final 30 contestants, Tiffany Montgomery changed her name to "Ryan Starr". Although no explanation was given by the show, it is thought that she might have changed it because people remembered her name from the show "Popstars", which she was in with other fellow Top 30 contesants, Tenia Taylor, Alexandra Bachelier, and Angela Peel. Ryan, however, was the only one to make it to the final 10, finally being cut in round four.

|Last one, and of course I give it to Simon: What did he say to that sad, sad girl who sang "Genie In A Bottle" at the very first auditions?||"American Idol": The Final Shows
"That was extraordinary. Unfortunately, extradonarily bad.". "Oh, Simon," Paula says (courtesy of her comedy writer) "you'd critique a suicide note." Well, so what! There are some good and some very bad suicide notes out there. Simon's my favorite-- send me a note about yours! Peace, until "American Idol 2"!
the Jaded Journalist. He is something-- he's actually funny! I'm going to do a merciless plug here: the website is www.idolonfox.com. Go! It's a great site-- pictures, videos, finalist/host/judge information, concert info, and of course, the Jaded Man's recaps. In case you missed any shows-- which of course you didn't. =)
phenomenal. Oh yes, she and her pro comedy scribe broke it up into "phe" and "nomenal". Score, Paula, you're funny! One could almost see Simon banging his head against the table.
|Ryan Seacrest, as he is prone to do, talks to Kelly about her new hair colors on the second-to-last results show. What does he say to her last?||"American Idol": The Final Shows
"I highlight the tips of my hair too.". It's there. He said it. You do what you like with it. I'm done interpreting for our little giddy Ryan. He's so cute, though! His teeth look like when Ross from "Friends" bleached his teeth too long. =)
German. That Dunk! Always goofing off! I love him, I do. He's the host that "takes us into the break" and boy, is he good at it. What would this wonderful show be without my man, the Dunk? And no one really minds that crack he made about Fresno.
Will Young . He and Kelly sang "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and Kelly just blew him away. =)
Final 10. This was on the very last show, the 2 hour one. It was giddy! It was awesome! It was-- superfly! Word up!
