 'Cosby Show'- Characters
Princeton University. Sondra attended Princeton University. You rarely ever see her on the show, except when she comes home for holidays and once she was married and had the twins.
5. Clair and Cliff Huxtable were the parents of five kids. Their names are Sondra, Denise, Theo, Vanessa, and Rudy. Sabrina LaBeauf, who plays Sondra is actually only 10 years younger than Phylicia Rashad, who played her mother, Clair, on "The Cosby Show".
Denise. The second oldest Huxtable kid, a girl, was named Denise. She was sort of the "fasion queen" of the house, and was played by actress Lisa Bonet. After Sondra left, Denise was the oldest and she felt a little more in control, since Sondra couldn't boss her around. She and Theo argued quite a bit, like Rudy and Vanessa did.
Phylicia Rashad. Phylicia Rashad, at first credited on "The Cosby Show" as Phylicia Ayers-Allen, played Clair Hanks Huxtable. Clair was a loving mother and wife to her husband Cliff and their 5 children. In real life Phylicia has two children, a boy and a girl.
Nelson and Winnie. Sondra and Elvin eventually had twins, a boy and a girl, named Winnie and Nelson. They are not born until one of the later seasons of "The Cosby Show". Winnie was played by twin sisters, Monique and Domonique Reynolds, and by Jessica Anne Vaughn. Nelson was played by Clayton Griggs, Christopher Griggs, and Gary LeRoi Gray.
Attorney. Clair Huxtable, Cliff's loving wife, was an attorney. She had to solve many cases, one in which Sondra, her daughter was involved. Sondra had been needing a new motor, and the mechanic just put a new sticker over the actual number so it looked like he changed the engine. Somehow, Sondra and her father figured it out and they took it to court. Clair decided that it was a good case and that she would argue it.
Elvin. Sondra got married to Elvin Tibideaux. When Sondra and Elvin were dating, they would have arguments of some sort and break up. Sondra would be all miserable and make everyone in the Huxtable house go crazy. Elvin would then always come and apologize to Sondra and they'd get back together. This happened quite a few times. They later had twins named Nelson and Winnie, once they were married.
Rudith Lillian Huxtable. Rudy always liked to tell people that her full name is Rudith Lillian Huxtable, and her mother mentioned this in a few episodes too.
Dog. Vanessa always asked for a dog in every opportunity she got. She once said that because of getting shampoo in her eyes, Rudy might be blinded for life. She then said to Cliff, "If she is, can we get a dog?"
Trombone. Russell was part of a jazz band when he was younger, in which he was a trombonist. His nickname was "Slide" Huxtable. Russell plays the trombone for everyone in a couple different episodes.
Halloween. At this party, Vanessa accidentally dropped a tray of glasses on the floor in front of Robert, a boy she really liked. This made Vanessa very upset. Clair eventually cheered her up by telling Vanessa some stories of her own about the same kind of thing.
Erika Alexander. Clair's cousin, Pam Tucker, played by Erika Alexander, moved in with the Huxtables when her mother goes out to California to be with her sick mother (Pam's grandmother).
Paula. In the sixth season of the show, Denise decided to invite Paula over to the Huxtable house for Thanksgiving dinner. This was, of course, after she and Martin had gotten married. Besides that, Olivia's mother wasn't mentioned a whole lot.
Paris. Sondra announced during the first season that she would like to spend the summer in Paris, France with her friends. This episode was also the first episode that Sondra appeared in. Cliff didn't love the idea of Sondra going to Paris, but after some persuasion, he decided to let her go.
New York University. In the very last episode, the family gathered for Theo's graduation from NYU. Both Cliff and Clair Huxtable attended Hillman College, along with their daughter, Denise, and Cliff's father, Russell. Bill Cosby (Cliff Huxtable) attended Temple University in real life. Phylicia Rashad (Clair Huxtable) was a graduate of Howard University.
Tailwind Turner. Cliff participated in track during his college years. Cliff and Tailwind Turner were big rivals, and in one of the episodes, Cliff is challenged to a rematch of one of their track meets that happened about 20 years before.
ten . Cliff and Clair Huxtable had five children. Vanessa was their second to youngest, and she was played by Tempestt Bledsoe. Vanessa was ten for the very first few episodes, but soon turned eleven.
