Chantal. Chantal Morisot was Finn's third wife, Mia was his fourth. He met Mia when she was working for Chantal, who was also a hairdresser. Mia and Allie attended a hairdressing course run by Chantal, who took great pleasure in picking on everything Mia did. This was because she was still very angry that Mia 'stole' Finn from her.

Bevan. A lot of old feelings were stirred up for Allie when Finn and Mia Bevan arrived in Manchester. Finn left Allie when she told him she was pregnant and allowed him to believe that she later lost the baby. They found out at the end of the series that Ruby, the loud-mouthed salon junior, is their daughter.
Manchester City. Eugene, in addition to being the accountant for the salon, also started a fitness club for Manchester City fans who no longer want to be ridiculed at matches by fans of the opposing team.
Ruby. Ruby came to work in Allie's salon, without Allie knowing who she really was. Allie named her Tilly when she was born, but her name was changed by her adoptive parents.
Henshall Ferraday. Allie and her husband Gavin Ferraday ran the salon together in the first series. Later on, things got a lot more complicated when Allie's ex-boyfriend Finn and his new wife Mia opened a rival salon across the street which was called Blade Runners.
Hairdresser. The programme was set in and around the world of hairdressing and Allie Henshall was the main character in the show. Her sisters Darcey and Sydney were a beautician and a nail technician respectively, and Allie's old friend Eugene was her accountant.
A property developer. Sunni Khadir was a forcing people to leave the area by buying up the leases on all the local businesses and raising the rent so much that they could no longer afford to pay it. She was a very intimidating character who was quite evil but smiled all the time. The character was played by Ayesha Dharker.
She was in love with Gavin. Allie's daughter Ruby fell in love with Gavin, who was her ex-step-father. She then did exactly what Darcey was attempting to do, and deliberately got pregnant to see if he loved her. You see what I mean about complicated relationships.
Zinnia. Zinnia Raggitt was an ex-adult film star. Tom Henshall was very excited to meet her as he had been a fan of her films for years. Zinnia was a shameless flirt. It was also revealed that she once had an affair with her daughter's ex-husband, Finn.
Second Best. The song's full title was 'Second Best (Not For Me)' and was actually performed by Sian Reeves, who plays Sydney Henshall. She has appeared in a number of stage musicals.
She was trying to get pregnant to trap him. Darcey tried to get pregnant without telling Gavin so he would have no choice but to stay with her. Sydney found out her plan and told Gavin, and he broke up with Darcey.
Mia. Allie bought Finn's ex-wife Mia's old salon, Blade Runners, which is across the street from the salon she and Gavin used to run. Mia became head stylist at 'Gavin Ferraday', and Allie started up her own business, simply entitled 'Allie Henshall'. As you may have noticed, the relationships get very complicated in this programme.
Seventies Disco. Allie's mother, Brawdie, who is normally extremely unkempt and doesn't care what people think of her, went to Allie to get her hair done. Instead, Allie gave her a makeover which made her look attractive again. She impressed everyone at the Seventies party with her talent at disco dancing.
Finn. At the end of the first series, Allie decided she had to know if her relationship with Finn would have worked out. She left Gavin even though she was still in love with him. Gavin was in a relationship with Allie's sister Darcey at this point, after having a number of flings to forget about Allie.
Mia Bevan. Mia was last seen at the end of series two. She was the main suspect after the two salons were destroyed by an arsonist. She reappeared in episode five of the third series. She claimed to have come back to ask forgiveness for all of her wrongdoings. When Allie, Darcey and Sydney all forgave her, she made them ask for her forgiveness in return. However, she was only back to get revenge on Finn for having left her. She did this by kidnapping baby Ralfie and threatening to jump off a roof with him.
He was robbed. He told everyone his black eyes, cut face and broken arm were the result of being mugged on the street. In fact, Finn beat him up badly because Eugene was the only other person who knew the truth about Ralfie's parentage, and threatened to reveal the information.
Finn paid Gavin to leave Manchester. Ruby's dad Finn had paid Gavin a substantial amount of money to move away from Manchester. Finn did not want Gavin to be near Allie anymore. This was because he suspected that Gavin and Allie still had feelings for each other, and he wanted to force Gavin and Ruby closer together. Gavin wanted to move out of the city anyway, but Finn's 'generous' pay off meant he could afford to do it. Ruby quickly got bored and wanted to move back to Manchester.
Troy. Troy was actaully Mia's half-brother, who had come into the picture to get information to feed back to Mia on what was happening at the salon. Initially, Sydney and Shane both had a crush on Troy. They spent a great deal of time throughout all four series of the programme arguing about men. Shane always thought that every attractive man was gay and so would be interested in him. Sydney, as spirtual advisor to the salon, would try to connect with people on a deeper level, but was generally regarded as being a bit mad.
Artemis. Ruby and Gavin named their daughter Artemis, after the Greek goddess of the moon and hunting. Gavin was not aware that he was also the biological father of Allie's son Ralfie. Allie and Gavin had a brief liaison that resulted in her pregnancy.
Ralfie. Allie and Finn's baby was named Ralfie, after Finn's father. Allie did not know at this point that Finn had a vasectomy a number of years ago and that Ralfie could not therefore be Finn's son, and that his real father was in fact Allie's ex-husband Gavin.
'Alright'. Allie and the other members of the salon staff sang 'Alright', originally by Supergrass and performed a dance routine. This was another of Allie's vivid daydreams.
Finn and Allie. Allie and Finn had been on holiday in Italy. Allie told her sisters and daughter when she got back that she knew nothing about the wedding until it actually happened. Ruby then decided she and Gavin should get married too. At this point in the series, Allie's parents Tom and Brawdie were separated. Eugene and Darcey had not yet become a couple.
