1978 to 1986. 'Diff'rent Strokes' ran from 1978 to 1986. This show was ranked number one on a few occasions. The show went downhill when they brought Sam into the mix.
August 30, 1986. "Diff'rent Strokes" had their last showing on August 30, 1986. The series had 189 episodes. Even though Dana Plato passed away, I think they should have a reunion show.
Their mother was his housekeeper. Lucy Jackson, Arnold and Willis' mother, was Mr. Drummond's housekeeper. When she found out she was dying she asked him to take in the boys. In the first episode, Arnold was ecstatic with his new living condition while Willis was a little reserved and skeptical. He planned to move Arnold and himself back to Harlem to live with some friends. Mr. Drummond and Arnold convinced him that he wasn't being fair to their mother, since that was her last request.
He threw water bombs over the balcony. Mr. Drummond punished Arnold with a spanking, but actually Willis did it. He believed that only a blood relative should preserve discipline. He felt bad about it afterwards.
The Gooch. The Gooch was referred to in various episodes but was never seen. Perhaps because he was too scary.
Joe Namath. Willis and Kimberly schemed to get Muhammad Ali to come to the house to meet Arnold, claiming he was dying. Reggie Jackson played a friend of theirs at the YMCA who Willis teamed up with for a competition. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was in a couple of episodes as Arnold's strict, overbearing teacher, Mr. Wilkes. Too Tall Jones of the Dallas Cowboys also made an appearance.
All of these (Breaking into the school, Vandalism, Trashing the principal's office). The police promised to reduce charges if the guys co-operated and drop names of the members who got away. They refused at first, but Willis' friend Jimmy decided to crack. He also said Willis wasn't involved. He was only trying to stop them but they wouldn't listen. Therefore, he was cleared.
