 Everybody Hates Chris
Delivering newspapers. Episode: "Everybody Hates a Part-Time Job"
The leather jacket Chris wants is on sale. Just his luck, the last one is sold as soon as Chris makes enough money. But he continues to save up and eventually gets the jacket the next summer.
Electric. Episode: "Everybody Hates Father's Day"
When Chris asks Julius what he wants, he jokingly tells him to pay one of the bills. But, after searching and not being able to find anything, Chris takes it to heart and pays the electric bill.
Robitussin. Episode: "Everybody Hates a Part-Time Job"
For anything from a cold to getting hit by a bus, Rochelle always calls for the good old Robitussin.
Billy Ocean. Tonya has Drew teach her to moonwalk like Billy Ocean. Tonya ends up winning tickets through a local radio station to see Billy Ocean in a later episode.
Ghostbusters. Episode: "Everybody Hates Cutting School"
Chris' teacher says her sister died so she can get out of class to see the movie too. Of course, Chris and Greg run into her there, but all three of them come to an agreement that they won't tell on each other.
Chocolate turtles. When Rochelle has to give up her turtles, she goes through terrible sugar withdrawal. She is reduced to stealing Drew and Tonya's candy, drinking syrup, and putting tons of sugar into her Kool Aid.
Risky. Risky is always selling stolen items, and usually there's something wrong with them. The tickets he sells to Julius are always the worst seats in the house.
Dream girls. Episode: "Everybody Hates Jail"
Rochelle and Julius are so excited for the show, but Julius can't go with her because he has to take care of Drew and Tonya when they get the chicken pox.
Keisha. Episode: "Everybody Hates Keisha"
Chris is infatuated with Keisha, but she ends up with Drew. Her family later ends up moving out of Chris' neighborhood.
Caruso. Joey Caruso is always beating on Chris and Greg.
Greg. Greg and Chris are a good team, as both are kind of the outcasts at school.
Corleone Junior High . Chris is the only black kid in the school, and has to take a bus across town to get there.
Rochelle and Julius. Julius is Chris' penny-pinching father, who knows the cost of any amount of food or anything else. Rochelle is Chris' mother, who is determined to not let anyone think the family is poor.
Drew and Tonya. Drew is two years younger than Chris, and Tonya is three years younger.
Earrings. Tonya wants to borrow Rochelle's earrings, but when she says no, Tonya takes them anyway. Of course, she ends up losing them, and has to face her mother.
Tangee. Episode: "Everybody Hates Valentine's Day"
Tangee and her boyfriend are always fighting about something, so when Chris finally intervenes, Tangee breaks up with her boyfriend. Chris gets her a card, but Tangee is unsatisfied, demanding more gifts, and Chris realizes she isn't so great after all.
Junebug. Episode: "Everybody Hates Eggs"
Rochelle makes Chris really experience the work put into raising a baby by waking him up every few hours to tell him "the baby's crying" at night. Things go fine until Junebug is accidentally packed into a grocery bag at the store Chris works at. Coincidentally, it ends up in Rochelle's bag, so Chris is eventually reunited with his "baby".
Macaroni and cheese. Episode: "Everybody Hates Thanksgiving"
Julius is determined to make the perfect meal, but everything goes wrong when Chris falls asleep and burns the mac and cheese, and Rochelle forgets to put the turkey in the oven. The family finally gets their meal around 1 AM.
Prince. When Chris wants to go to a party Keisha was attending as well, Greg suggests that Chris go as Prince. Rochelle makes him a fabulous costume. When Chris gets to the party, he realizes it's all older kids. It turns out that Keisha's mom had told her she couldn't go, so that lands both Keisha and Chris in trouble.
Joy. Episode: "Everybody Hates Valentine's Day"
Greg and Chris go shopping so they can get cards for the girls they both like. Their cards end up getting switched, resulting in some confusion with Joy's parents, asking her, "Joy, are you dating a black kid?"
The Young and the Restless. Episode: "Everybody Hates the Gout"
When Julius catches the Gout, Julius must not go to work for a short while. During the day, he and Sheila (neighbor and friend of Rochelle) watch "The Young and the Restless" and gossip about it with other neighborhood women.
Mike. Episode: "Everybody Hates Fat Mike"
The name "Mike" is shared by so many people on the block, they all have to have nicknames to tell them apart. Fat Mike is one of the cool kids on the block, who Chris lends his bike to. His parents forbade Chris to let anyone else ride his new bike, and when Mike doesn't come back with his bike, Chris tries to keep it from them. Finally, Mike returns it right when Chris was about to fess up.
Asteroids. Episode: "Everybody Hates the Lottery"
Chris owns the top scores at the local Asteroids machine, but he finally meets his match and must work to reclaim his title.
