    'Gilmore Girls' - Season 5

"Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller"- In this season five opener, we see more of what happened in the previous season finale. What song did Rory pick out for her and Dean's official song?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

The Candyman. We see the pair lying in Rory's little bed after making love. In the season four finale "Recipes and Raincoats", we only see them after they've dressed and rushed out to encounter Lorelai. This time we see them together having a little discussion, some of it about what "their" song should be. Rory used the remote control to her bedside CD player and turned on "The Candyman". Dean found this to be funny and Rory pointed out that it was a great song. It was happy, hopeful and had the word candy in it.

"Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller"- Where were Liz and T.J. when they had the accident that caused Luke to leave Stars Hollow for seven weeks?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

Maine. On Lorelai's answering machine Luke explained that both T.J. and Liz had suffered broken bones. Luke had agreed to come up to Maine and help with their Renaissance Fair booth. It was located next to the Apple Doll booth, and they did not want to lose their place.

"Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller"- Luke left Lorelai five messages on her machine before she called him back. One of those messages contained his new cellphone number. What was the number of Luke's cellphone?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

860-294-1986. Luke's third message informed Lorelai that he had the new phone, but he hung up before he gave her the number. He called back and left it for her in message number four and message number five was a simple "don't change your mind until I get back".

"Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller"- When Lorelai returned Luke's five messages, where did he tell her he was?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

10 minutes from "If I lived here I'd blow my brains out.". When he answered his phone, while driving his truck, Lorelai said, "If isn't Dean Moriarty." He asked her if she'd gotten his messages and she joked back that her answering machine had dropped dead of exhaustion. Dean Moriarty is the main character from Jack Kerouac's "On The Road".

"A Messenger, Nothing More"- In Zack's world, what are "wink winkers"?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

French fries. Lane had taken to giving her poor roommates free French fries from Luke's. They were the overcooked ones that would be tossed out anyway, so she fed the boys with them whenever available. She told him he did not have to use any covert terms, like wink winkers, as they would be thrown away and it was not a bad thing to eat them instead. When he came in later with two groupies, she refused to feed the girls the wink winkers, explaining they are for her friends and family only. Truthfully, Lane was tired of seeing Zack with a string of different girls, as she was starting to have feelings for him herself.

"Written In The Stars"- Which unsuspecting person showed up to the wake for Asher Fleming?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

Emily. Emily had tried to coerce Lorelai into coming out for a drink with her. Emily had spontaneously left her home at night, just because Richard had and she did not have a clue as to what he was doing. Lorelai could not join her. The town meeting had taken a rather nosy turn when it began to judge the commercial implications of her dating Luke on the town. Luke let it be know, in no uncertain terms, that it was none of their business and that their relationship would NOT end. Unfortunately, in talking to Emily Lorelai let it slip that Rory was settling in to her new room at Yale and did not have any plans. Emily found out about Asher's death when she arrived. She blamed Richard for not telling her, but it is not certain that Richard even knew himself.

"Tippecanoe and Taylor, Too"- What did Jackson run against Taylor for and win?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

Town Selectman. Lorelai and Sookie aided Jackson in his campaign against Taylor. They were tired of his tight reign over Stars Hollow and wanted a new approach to town business. Though Jackson beat Taylor, it did not appear to be a job he would handle well.

"We Got Us a Pippi Virgin!"- Where did Luke, Lorelai, Rory and Dean go to see "Cool Hand Luke"?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

Black White and Read movie theater. The theater is located inside the Black White and Read Bookstore. It is a few comfortable chairs, couches and love seats situated infront of a pull down screen. When they arrived Kirk (who else) was working there and he told them that the first 25 minutes had been lost. I believe he said the reel caught on fire. He offered to re-enact the first reel, but they all declined and chose "Pippi" over various gory driving videos.

"We Got Us a Pippi Virgin!"- Emily found a glittery vest inside Richard's closet at the pool house. What did we later find out to be its reason for being there?"Gilmore Girls" Season 5 Pop Quiz

it was part of a costume. When Lorelai came to talk to her father, she found out he'd joined a singing group and that vest was part of their costume. Lorelai told her father it would be a great idea to tell her mother what he was doing, just so Emily would know. Later, Richard went in to the main house to tell Emily that he was contesting their annual tax bill. While he was there, he did tell her about his new singing group. She seemed very pleased and told him that she had purchased a panic room. Earlier in this episode, both Rory and Lorelai had seen the panic room and said "like Jodi Foster?" Emily had no idea that Jodi had made a movie about a panic room, and if she had known she'd have realized what she was bought was more like a panic box.

"But I'm a Gilmore!"- What did Lorelai NOT bring home to her hung over houseguests?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

Mars bar. Paris and Rory were hung over from drinking too much of Miss Patty's Founders Day punch. So, Lorelai went out and got one of her favorite fast food spots to open up early. She brought the guests tacos, both hard and soft; French fries, curly, straight and spicy; and she brought Rory a beef burrito. She did not think the others could handle the burrito, but she knew Rory could. Kirk asked her if she brought home a Mars bar, "hair of the dog", but she hadn't. Instead, she directed him to the Pop-tarts. Hair of the dog is an Irish folk remedy for whatever ails you, and also an American Irish folk band. The term actually means to use whatever got you into the mess to get you out of it, so Kirk probably meant he was sick over eating a Mars bar, instead of the punch.

"But I'm a Gilmore!"- What is the name of Logan's sister?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

Honor . She was waiting for Logan in his room when he returned with Rory. At first, Rory thought it's one of Logan's many female friends. She was relieved to find out she was his sister, and Honor was shocked to find out Rory is Logan's girlfriend. Devon Sorvari played Honor in several episodes. Logan and Rory attend dinner at the Huntzberger house the same evening that Honor and Josh announce their engagement. This is when Rory finds out that despite being a Gilmore, she is not Huntzberger material. They very fact that she's an ambitious person means she could not function as the wife of a Huntzberger man. This information works a number on Rory in the months to come, even allowing her to accept the information from Logan's dad that she isn't cut out for journalism.

"But I'm a Gilmore!"- What is the name of the newspaper that Mitchum Huntzberger buys, and offers Rory an internship at?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

Stamford Eagle Gazette. Mitchum showed up at the 'Yale Daily News' and offered Rory an internship at his newly acquired newspaper in Stamford. He told her that he felt awful about the way she was treated at his home the night she found out she wasn't good enough to become a Huntzberger. Rory declined the offer, but reconsidered when Mitchum basically told her she'd be stupid to turn it down for any reason. Thus began an alarming trend of Rory doubting herself and no longer listening to her own inner gut instincts.

"How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod?"- Did Lorelai attend the Friday night dinner because she knew Logan was going to be there?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

Yes. She told Rory she wanted to the chance to get to know Logan better, and asked Rory to let Emily know. Rory refused to call her grandmother, so Lorelai had to do it herself. Emily was highly insulted by Lorelai's request and said she had to come to all of the foreseeable Friday night dinners if she wanted to attend this one.

"How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod?"- What is a Kropog?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

unit of distance. Yalies used the "Kropog" to judge the distance between places. Richard filled in the details of the story to Lorelai, who had no idea what Logan was talking about when he said he and Rory's dorms were 90 Kropogs apart. Maxwell Kropog was in the Yale class of 1944 and back in his time someone started using his short stature to measure distances at Yale. Richard also commented that he was happy to hear of Kropog still being a part of the Yale vernacular.

"How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod?"- What did Logan attempt to steal from Emily and Richard?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

sewing box. Logan brought Emily and Richard each a present. He also brought an old cigarette lighter along. When they were all seated for dinner, Logan snatched up Emily's antique sewing box and replaced it with the lighter. Rory protested his theft, but Logan assured her that these old rich people never noticed the stuff he took. And, he reminded her that he always replaced the item with the previously stolen one. Rory, one again showing her bad judgment, allowed him to take it. Lorelai witnessed the entire thing, but said nothing. Of course, Emily noticed it immediately and demanded that the maid find it. Lorelai bailed Logan out of his jam by pretending she'd found it on the dinning table.

"Blame Booze and Melville"- Kirk haggled with Luke over the increased price of Luke's wheat toast. The toast had previously been $1.00, but what was the new price?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

$1.10. Kirk explained that a ten percent increase in one food item was unheard of and that he wouldn't pay it. They negotiate the price of the toast down to $1.05, at least for this one occassion. When Lorelai entered the diner, she agreed that the ten percent was a little much for an initial increase. Kirk piped up a little later that the tax was a penny (one cent) too high as well.

"Blame Booze and Melville"- Taylor delivers the unfortunate news that Luke has a competing offer on the Twickum house. Who was the other offer from?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

Kirk. Luke was shocked that Kirk had not only the money to buy the house, but enough cash to place a $15,000 down payment. Kirk explained to Luke that he'd been working for eleven years, had about 15,000 jobs in that time and saved all the money he'd earned. The cash money turned out to be $247,868. Kirk said saving and compound interest had grossed him that much over the last eleven years. In the end, the town elders decided Luke should have the house instead of Kirk.

"A House is Not a Home"- In this season five finale, does Luke say 'yes' to Lorelai when she asks him to marry her?"Gilmore" Season 5 Wrap Party

No. Luke doesn't have the chance to respond. The season finale ended before he could answer her. He did answer 'yes' right away when the season six premier aired. He did not even hestitate when he realized what she was aksing. He'd loved her a long time.
