Episode 16: "Unexpected"

Sylar's telekinesis. The title of the episode refers to this very confrontation between Peter and Claude in which Claude waves around the staff and says "Do... something... UNEXPECTED!" only to have Peter stop the staff telekinetically.

Claude. In a meeting with his boss, Thompson says that they pair non-powered people with "one of them" (referring to people with abilities) in a way to keep everyone honest. It is then revealed that Bennet's partner is already in the room, having been cloaked using his invisibility.

Isaac Mendez. Isaac paints his own death in the manner similar to Sylar's victims. Understanding the inevitability of his paintings, eventually Isaac accepts his fate.
The percentage of people who would die if the bomb exploded.. Peter seems not to care that he could survive the explosion because of the vast number of people who would die. Linderman states that .07%, or approximately half the population of New York City, is "an acceptable loss".
Sylar was the bomb that exploded New York City. It is revealed or implied that Sylar killed Candice Wilmer, D.L. Hawkins, and Nathan Petrelli. He has been using Candice's power of illusion to disguise himself as Nathan Petrelli and rule as president.

She can see and locate anyone by thinking about them. Her ability is described as Clairvoyance or Remote Viewing. Upon thinking about that person, she holds a thumbtack above a map and can pinpoint the exact location of that person.

2008. The events of the next episode show that a virus has lead to a mass evacuation of the city, as well as other surrounding areas.
Adam Monroe. At the episode's end, Peter is distracted by a noise coming from behind him. He swings around and shoots a bolt of electricity in the direction of the noise. A hand appears to stop the bolt, leaving the flesh charred and blackened, but instantly regenerates a moment later. Takezo Kensei appears from behind the wall, revealing himself to be the mysterious Adam Monroe, whom Peter still does not recognize.

Japan - 1671. This aspect of Volume 2 is about Hiro and his storybook hero, Takezo Kensei.
New York City Police Department (NYPD). Matt Parkman is living in New York City throughout Volume 2, having been an officer for the LAPD throughout Volume 1. He is divorced from his wife and is taking care of Molly Walker at Mohinder's apartment in Brooklyn. He passes his NYPD detective exam using his telepathy as a guide.
Caitlin. Caitlin is later trapped in post-virus 2008 after Peter teleports her there, but does not teleport her back to the present day.

D.L. Hawkins. Niki and Micah Sanders are seen visiting the grave of Daniel Lawrence Hawkins. It is later revealed that the events of the Volume 1 finale did not kill him, but he died afterwards in a nightclub.
West. West Rosen is a classmate of Claire's at Costa Verde High School. He has the ability to fly, but he is not shown flying anywhere near as fast as Nathan Petrelli.
Volume 2 explores Matt Parkman's telepathy to greater depths, showing how he can do far more than he thought possible. What else can Matt do? | "Heroes" Volume Two: "Generations"

project his own thoughts into someone else's mind. Volume 2 reveals that Matt Parkman's telepathy is similar to his father's. Not just can he hear the thoughts of others, but he can project thoughts into others to the point of near mind control. Angela Petrelli shows that it is possible to fight this power, but it requires intense mental strength.
He is not affected by Hiro's time stoppage. In 1671, he went by the name of Takezo Kensei. Hiro meets him in this time period and shows him how to be a great leader. Hiro also explains to him the extent of his healing ability. It is revealed that he has used this ability so many times that his cells are dying and regenerating at the same rate, so he no longer ages and is theoretically immortal.
The character of Bob is shown to be in charge of operations for "The Company". He displays the ability to turn inexpensive metals into gold. It is also revealed that he has a daughter. Who is she and what can she do? | "Heroes" Volume Two: "Generations"

Elle - electricity manipulation. Elle Bishop is a new character introduced in Volume 2. She has the ability to generate and manipulate electricity. It is shown that she can generate electricity from any part of her body, such as her hands or her lips.
Elle is portrayed by Kristen Bell, previously known for starring in the series "Veronica Mars".
An underground casket. Hiro teleports Adam to a place where he "can never hurt anyone ever again." The next scene shows Adam screaming for help in a casket buried in a Japanese cemetery. Since Adam is effectively immortal, this is most likely the cruelest of fates.
Nathan Petrelli. Nathan calls a press conference where he is about to announce that he can fly, but he is shot moments before doing so. This cliff-hanger leads the way for Volume 3, entitled "Villains".

wedding reception. This episode explains the events that occurred during the four months between seasons 1 and 2. In this scene, Maya's brother Alejandro has just gotten married, although she isn't too fond of his new bride. To make matters worse, Maya discovers her cheating on Alejandro at the wedding reception. Maya is furious and her power activates for the first time, killing everyone at the reception... except herself and her brother.

Takezo Kensei. Takezo Kensei was the name he used back in 1671. In modern time, he is known as Adam Monroe. It is revealed that he used his healing power so many times that new cells were produced as quickly as the old ones died, rendering him effectively ageless.
with a knife. For many episodes (but this one especially), Alejandro tries to convince Maya that Sylar is a bad man. Alejandro eventually sees a newspaper article related to Sylar killing his mother. However, Maya chooses to continue on with Sylar to New York City.
Nathan. Nathan Petrelli is shot at a press conference when he is about to reveal to the world that he can fly. It is later revealed in "The Butterfly Effect" that the one who shot him was a future version of his brother Peter.

Jesse Murphy, sound manipulation. Jesse Murphy was played by Francis Capra, who is well known from the hit UPN / CW series "Veronica Mars".

suffocation. Claire wants to prove that because she cannot be physically hurt, she is no match for any foe. Meredith proves her wrong by enclosing her in a small space and heating up the container until there is insufficient oxygen, which causes a great deal of discomfort to Claire.
