What is the translated name of Inuyasha's most basic attack?Understanding "Inuyasha"

Soul Scattering Iron Claw. Translated in the manga as "Demon Begone!" or "Claws of Exorcism", the most literal translation for "Senken Tessou" is "Soul-Scattering Iron Claw". A poor translation for this was done in the dubbed version, where it was termed "Iron Reaver Soul-Stealer". This is nowhere close to a literal translation. To prove this, let's look at two words there: "reaver" and "stealer". First off, the word "reaver" is an archaic word, from the root word "reave". "Reave" means, by definition, "to carry off, to steal". However, the context it's used in with the dubbed version is implying that "to reave" means "to tear", which it does not. The second word, "stealer", is a word often spoken by a child who does not yet know proper grammar. A person who steals is not called a "stealer", but a "thief". Basically, the dubbed name of this attack is calling it "Iron Thief Soul Thief". This is both redundant and incorrect.

Appropriately named, what is the translation of the main villain's name?Understanding "Inuyasha"

"Hell". "Naraku" can mean "Hell", "Eternity", or the basement of a theater. Add "nosoko" to it and you get "Narakunosoko", which means "abyss".

We should all know that "Inu" means "Dog"... but what does the kanji for "Yasha" mean?Understanding "Inuyasha"

"Female demon". Strangely enough, "Yasha" is a term for a female demon. Various words for "Demon" include: "Akki", "Akuma", "Tenma", "Youkai", "Oni", and "Ma". "Half" is "Han", so the term used in this show for a half-demon is "Hanyou", which is probably short for "Hanyoukai". Please note that this question asks for the KANJI translation. The word "Yasha" is made up of the kanji "Yoru" and "Mata", which means "female demon".

Which of Sesshoumaru's traveling companions has a name that translates to "companion"?Understanding "Inuyasha"

Rin. Rin is the small girl that Sesshoumaru resurrected after she had been mauled by wolves. Jaken, his lizard-like companion, means "cruel" or (as a noun) "an evil point of view". The third companion, the two headed dragon named Ah-Uhn is named after a pair of statues often found in a Shinto shrine: one with its mouth open as if to say "Ah", the other as if to say "Un". Another translation for "Rin" is "the sound made by a bell".

What is the best translation of the name of Sango's standard weapon?Understanding "Inuyasha"

"Flying Bone". Sango's weapon, a boomerang made of youkai bones, is named Hiraikotsu. The name is made from the kanji "Hirai", which means "Flying", and "Kotsu", which means "Bone". "Boomerang", since it is a word from the Australian language, is translated in Japanese as "Boomerangu".

You should know by now that Kagome will use the word "Sit" to nullify Inuyasha's power and send him crashing to the ground. Therefore, if Kagome were to invite Inuyasha to sit at a chair, would the same thing happen?Understanding "Inuyasha"

No. "Osuwari" is a command used for dogs to sit. To invite someone to sit down would be "Koshikakeru". As you can see, the standard word for someone to sit would be different than Kagome's command. So, fortunately for Inuyasha, he wouldn't go crashing to the ground everytime she mentioned the word "sit".

Mica, also called "isenglass" is a crystalized mineral resistant to both heat and electricity. Which "Inuyasha" character has this name?Understanding "Inuyasha"

Kirara. Kirara is first seen as an adorable two-tailed kitten that utters an even more adorable mew-squeak. When angered or trying to protect Sango, she expands into a much larger version with fiery fur and huge canine teeth. At this time, her voice also turns into a roar akin to that of a mountain lion. Since in Japanese language the L and R sounds are interchangeable, this has led to much confusion when dubbed anime (such as the Alucard/Arucard confusion from "Hellsing"). In this case, the dubbed version named this character "Kilala" rather than "Kirara". Unfortunately, this is incorrect, so anyone who answered "Kilala" would be wrong. The reason for this is that the word "kilala" has no translation. Change the L to an R and you get "kirara", which has a meaning.

    What guy from Kagome's era loves/likes her?"Inuyasha" 2

Hojo. Hojo goes to Kagome's school and is always bringing her medicinal gifts for her fake illnesses. Koga and Inuyasha are from the feudal era not hers.

What was the name of the two demons that killed Shippo's (Shippou) father?"Inuyasha" 2

The Thunder Brothers. Hiten and Moten are brothers and they killed his father for the jewel shard he had.

What is the name of the woman that Onigumo is in love with?"Inuyasha" 2

Kikyo . While Kikyo was caring for him he began to love or lust after her and called the demons to devour his body so that he may have her and thus Naraku was born.

What is the name of Naraku's third incarnation?"Inuyasha" 2

Goshinki. Goshinki was the one that broke Tetsusaiga and Inuyasha defeated him by transforming into his demon form. Kanna was Naraku's first incarnation, Kagura was his second, and Juuroumaru was the fourth.

    What lands were Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's father's domain?"Inuyasha" 2

The Western lands. In the episode "Aristocratic Assassain, Sesshoumaru" Kaede tells Kagome that the Western lands were his domain.

Who brings Kikyo (Kikyou) back from the dead?"Inuyasha" 2

Urasue. Urasue is the witch that brings Kikyo (Kikyou) back from the dead by stealing part of Kagome's soul and the dirt from her grave site. She wanted to use Kikyo(u) to gather more jewel shards but Kikyo(u) turned on her and killed Urasue.

    Who stole Tetsusaiga?"Inuyasha" 2

Sango. Sango took Tetsusaiga in order to save Kohaku.

From what song do these lyrics come from: "Kaze wo kakenukete nanimo osorezu ni ima yuuki to egao no KAKERA daite"?"Inuyasha" Theme Songs

Change the World. "Piercing through the gales, unafraid of anything. Now I hold my courage and pieces of my smile." This is from "Change the World" by V-6, which was the first opening theme to "Inuyasha". I omitted the first line of this song, since it is in English and contains the name of the song.

"Ai no Uta" is to "Shinjitsu no Uta" as "Love" is to what?"Inuyasha" Theme Songs

"Truth". "Ai no Uta", sung by Every Little Thing as the 2nd Movie Ending Theme, translates to "Song of Love". "Shinjitsu no Uta" is sung by Do As Infinity and translates to "Song of Truth".

Sung by Hamasaki Ayumi, "No More Words" is the opening theme to which movie?"Inuyasha" Theme Songs

None. "No More Words" is in fact the ENDING theme for "Toki o Koeru Omoi", the first "Inuyasha" movie.

Which of the first two opening theme songs had Japanese titles?"Inuyasha" Theme Songs

Neither. The first opening theme is "Change the World", and the second is "I Am". "I Am" is sung by Hitomi.
