Invasion
Pria and Healey. Pria is the "fan" girl from the internet cafe. She'd approached Dave several times in the cafe, but given another name. After being abducted, Dave gets the name Healey from Pria's accomplice, but he admits that is not his real name. Dave recognizes Pria when he finally sees her. They tried to explain to Dave that they too had witnessed the lights. Pria's husband had killed himself just days after going into the water down in Brazil. Healey recounted a similar situation in Cuba, and all were after major storms. The men in Cuba (prison guards) had not only killed themselves, but all the inmates in the prison there.
Russell had followed the clues to Dave's location, and once there received all the confirmation he and Dave had been waiting for. Pria and Healey were the ones who stole Dave's mystery skeleton, and Pria had been able to reconstruct and create a face from the skull. The face belonged to Tom Underlay.
Stay tuned to see the mysterious invasion unfold!
What term does Dave use when discussing the creatures in the water? | ABC's "Invasion"
|
EBEs. EBE stands for Extra-terrestrial Biological Entities. He first uses the term when talking to Russell, and later fills his blogs with it as well. The blogs draw the attention of two people also searching for the truth, like Dave and Larkin. Russell, while wanting the truth, remains the Dana Scully of "Invasion" to Dave's Fox Mulder.
The three choices I made up could stand for Alien Biological Lifeforms, Extra-terrestrial Alien Lifeforms, and plain old Extra-terrestrials.
Dave gets another close hand look at the creature, when Russell cuts open the body of a huge alligator and ones falls out. They discover that the creature has a natural acidic defense mechanism and its cells contain human DNA.
Larkin is run off of the road in episode seven, "Fish Story". She encounters a man named Gerard. Gerard had been paid to distract Larkin from the truth by showing her a huge squid. Who'd paid this man to give Larkin the false story of the creatures in the water being big squid and not alien life forms? | ABC's "Invasion"
|
Sheriff Underlay. Tom Underlay is a puzzling character. We know he is one of the hybrids, and we known he's been for about ten years. Sometimes he seems peaceful and protective over all the people in his life, and sometimes he appears oddly cold and sinister. In this episode, he pays Gerard to use a big squid to throw Larkin off of her investigation. She has been on a military base, been privy to the alien talk of Dave and Russell, and seen the marks on Dave's body after he was hauled into the water by one of the creatures. Larkin does not really believe the squid is the creature she seeks, but she is in no shape to do much about it. Gerard is instructed to keep her out of the way until Tom can get rid of the people trying to kill Larkin and insure her silence. So, here he displays protectiveness toward her.
In episode six, "The Hunt", we learn that Russell arrived in America in 1980. Did he travel to America from Mexico? | ABC's "Invasion"
|
No. Russell told his son Jesse that he came over from Cuba in 1980. He was alone on a boat at ten years old, but his parents were supposed to follow him. His parents never showed up, and Russ had to live with his gangster uncle. If Russ was ten at the time, that would make him 35 years old now and 21 when Jesse was born.
We later find out, in a scene with Russ and Larkin, that Russ snapped and murdered his uncle. The man had murdered Russ' best friend, a sweet disabled boy, right in front of Russ. After he killed his uncle, Russ spent time in a youth camp.
Larkin. Larkin is Dave's sister, and married to Russell, Mariel's ex-husband. Mariel and Russell share two children from their marriage, Jesse and Rose. Jesse is fourteen and Rose is around seven or eight. Dave lives in an outbuilding, which I think is their garage, at Russell and Larkin's home. Larkin spends an episode where she comes close to losing the pregnancy, after being run off of the road for snooping about the real circumstances surrounding the storm.
After Mariel almost kills Jesse with a blood transfusion of her own blood, she joins a local support system of people who'd spent the night out in the storm and survived. The more she comes to accept the changes inside herself, the more worried Tom Underlay becomes. He asks her at one point if she would like to have a baby with him. He explains to her that he didn't think they could have children together, but now he wanted to try. He is ready now because they are both body-snatched alien/human hybrids. So, they could now breed if they choose to.
Dave. Dave finds a skeleton out in the water and transports it into the trunk of his car. He shares the finding with his brother-in-law Russell, who's a park ranger for the either the Everglades or Biscayne park. As season one unfolds, it becomes more and more clear that the skeleton is that of Sheriff Tom Underlay. Tom survived a plane crash in the region in 1996. Like many survivors of Eve, Tom spent a lot of time in the water and came out without any injuries of any kind. Tom's wife perished in the crash, but she was survived by their daughter, Kira. Tom's step-son, Mariel and Russell's biological child, Jesse has a crush on Tom's daughter Kira. Dave and Russell find a wedding band on the skeletal remains, which has the same inscription and date ('two become one' February 14th 1986) as is written on a picture in Tom and Mariel's home.
medical doctor. Mariel is a doctor at the local hospital and goes missing during Hurricane Eve. It is Russell's current wife, Larkin, that is the journalist. Larkin's brother Dave is the resident conspiracy theorist, and alien believer, who goes online and blogs {an online journal} the survivors' plights after the storm in a local internet cafe.
The beautiful actress Kari Matchett plays Dr. Mariel Underlay. Kari made many guest appearances in the following TV series, "Earth: Final Conflict", "A Nero Wolfe Mystery", and three on "Wonderfalls" in 2004. She was born in Canada in 1970 and was in the 2001 movie "Angel Eyes".
"Invasion" starts off during a hurricane in southern Florida. What was this fictional storm called? | ABC's "Invasion"
|
Eve. When the show debuted, it had only been three weeks since the devastating landfall of Hurricane Katrina on the Louisiana Gulf Coast, and Hurricane Rita was heading toward Texas. In the show, Hurricane Eve brought many mysteries to the Florida Everglades. Mysterious orange lights fell from the sky and remained in the water, observed by both Dave Groves and Rose Varon.
As seen in the closing credits of each episode, who is the creator of the drama series "Invasion"? | ABC's "Invasion"
|
Shaun Cassidy. Shaun Cassidy is one of the famous Cassidy family. He was born in September of 1958 to Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy. He is the older brother of Patrick Cassidy and Ryan Cassidy and the younger half-brother of David Cassidy. David Cassidy and his step-mother Shirley Jones co-starred on "The Partridge Family". Shaun co-starred with Parker Stevenson in the short-lived TV series "The Hardy Boys" in the 1970s. Ryan is a set director on "Invasion" and Patrick played Johnny Castle in the 1988 series "Dirty Dancing".
1.18 "Re-evolution"- While on the secret hybrid island, Russell and Dave find a copy of Szura's manuscript. What is the title of it? | ABC's "Invasion" Pt. 2
|
Robin Hood and the Cambrian Explosion. In the episode "Power", "Daddy Tom" gave all three of the kids presents. He gave Jesse a gun and Rose a book. Rose's book was "Robin Hood". Robin Hood robbed from the rich to give to the poor, could that have something to do with Tom and Eli Szura's plan for the hybrids? In the Earth's history, we've discovered a period of time now labeled the Cambrian Period. It is said that during this period on our planet, many new life forms appeared in a shorter time frame that we would have predicted. Dave suggests to Russell that maybe the hybrids are an invasive species that can be managed or wiped out, like has already happened in various places on Earth. Russell worries that Dave's idea is the "best case scenario", and the truth could be that the hybrids are mankind's newest 'evolutionary upgrade', thus leading to the eventual extinction of normal humans.
a litter. Christina forces Mariel to aid her at gunpoint. Mariel complies, not just out of self-preservation, but also because she herself is curious about her own "giant ovary". Mariel signals to the nurse she needs help by writing a message in the carbon portion of a medical order sheet. He calls Tom to let the sheriff know the renegade Christina is at the hospital with his wife. While doing the ultrasound, Mariel sees many fetuses. She tells Christina it looks like she's having "a litter". Mariel and the nurse also drug Christina so she can be transported out of the hospital quietly.
No. Tom told Kira that she could not be like himself, Mariel or Lewis. He never told her why, but after her attack, Mariel did. Kira has a heart defect of some kind, and the orange beings only take healthy people to replicate. Mariel, Larkin and Dave finally clue Rose and Jesse into the truth about their mother. While Dave lets slip his belief system, that the changelings are alien hybrids, he covers by saying it's more like a caterpillar to butterfly metamorphosis. When Jesse asks his mom what she really is, Rose responds with "not a butterfly". Mariel herself does not really know what to tell Jesse.
Mr. Moldiva. Kira decides to find out herself what mysteries the waters hold in her town. She floats in a nearby lagoon, and runs into Derek and Christina on the run from the camp. The trio goes on a little shopping spree in town, which is caught on video tape. The store owner reports to Kira's father (Sheriff Underlay) that she was in the store, and after he sees the footage, he knows Derek and Christina have escaped from his camp.
After their theft, Christina leads her little group to the home of her old boss Albert Moldiva. When he comes home, he's greeted by a knife into the chest, delivered by Christina. Kira freaks out and tries to leave, which leads to her eventual delivery to the ocean.
1.14 "All God's Creatures"- Which of Dave's records (albums) did the mysterious creature steal? | ABC's "Invasion" Pt. 2
|
Buddy Holly. The creature also stole beer, a record player and a picture of Larkin and Dave as children. The creature believed itself to be Dave, as it was an incomplete hybrid created from the time Dave was attacked in the water. Both Dave and Russell were visibly moved by the creature's plight and subsequent death. Larkin was afraid at first, but the creature was drawn to her specifically. The men wrapped it and dumped it back into the water after its death.
1996. After he is shot by Father Scanlon, Tom sort of hovers between real life and the past. Through his "memories" we see the plane crash, the time he first met Mariel and Russell, and when he learned Kira's mother had died. Tom does not know who shot him right away, and he suspects Russell for a little while.
When he does realize it was the priest, he sends the man to Szura's island of hybrids.
Emily. Rose is retrieving quarters off of the pool bottom, but there are too many for her to get. So, Emily dives into the pool, staying under for longer than the average person. The newspaper shows Emily's picture as one of four sorority sisters that disappeared during Hurricane Eve.
Nicole Garza played Emily Weeks. Nicole is an identical twin. She's also guest starred on "Campus Ladies", "The O.C", "Gilmore Girls" and "Entourage". Natalie, her twin sister, also appeared on "Campus Ladies".
1.11 "Us or Them"- In episode eleven, we see the first signs of pack behavior when a man is attacked outside of Father Scanlon's church. Who is the only person to come to his aid? | ABC's "Invasion" Pt. 2
|
Mariel. The man's wife had just recited her story of change to the church group. When her husband showed up to take her home, he displayed his outrage and dragged her to the truck. The group attacked him as a unit, while Father Scanlon and the man's wife just stood there and watched. It was Mariel that finally ran to his rescue. Mariel is still fighting the changes inside her mind and body.
Kira's. After the phone call was over, we could see him walk over to Kira and hand her phone back to her. He thanked her for allowing him to use it.
the hospital. He called Tom while Tom and Russell sat in a patrol car outside of a gas station. Tom brought Russ there in order to show how the hybrids were stocking up for a storm no one had told them about. Tom put Eli on speaker phone so that Russ could hear the conversation. Eli wanted to meet Tom for breakfast the next day, and ended the call with the fact he knew Tom was with Russ.
someplace dry. In the hospital, Jesse expressed how badly he did not want to stay in town any more. Russell said that was fine, as he'd pretty much lost his job earlier that day. Jesse asked where they'd go, and Russell said "someplace dry".
Brett. Jesse went into the empty pool to check Lewis. When he tried to call for help, Lee and the other boy put a water hose on him and he couldn't dial. When Brett tried to help, he ended up being thrown into the pool. While Sun and the red-haired boy were being hosed, Jesse jumped up and used Lewis' baton on Lee. When the deputy's pistol fell, Jesse grabbed it and held it to Lee's head. Russell arrived in time to stop Jesse.
Lewis. Derek Cooley had been murdered already by Szura. Michael Mitchell (Derek) was seen in season one of FX's series "Thief". Jesse and three friends were meeting two more boys at Brett's grandmother's place. It had been red-tagged as condemned and Brett told Jesse he could "thank FEMA". Once they arrived, they discovered that the other two boys had found Lewis instead of Tom, and beaten him severely.
No. When Russell gets to the ranger station, he finds Frank and Mona talking. Frank tells Russ that their chief has spoken to Sheriff Underlay (Tom) about the island camp. He also says that Dennison (Eli Szura) is close to the chief. Russ knows right then that no help is going to go out to the island. Frank also tells Russ that Underlay has volunteered to go out there and check things out. Tom does go out there with Lewis, and the island is deserted.
Mona admitted to Russ she had told their superiors she loved him and was worried for him and his family. She went on to say that she knew what was happening in town and that change like that was impossible to stop. She said "it's the way things are supposed to be". He asked her if she was "one of them", but she wouldn't confirm nor deny it.
All of these are correct (NTSB, Airplane wreckage, Air Force brass). Tom and Russell are fighting over the state of things. Tom is trying to convince Russell, once and for all, that he is not Russell's enemy. Tom warns Russ that the military knows all about the creatures in the water, since as far back as 1996. This is when Russ says "yeah", and that he had already seen the pictures. Tom says "what pictures", and Russell tells that him Szura was in them. Tom knows then that Szura is working with the military.
scrubbing the floor. The hybrids are all becoming restless as a new hurricane approaches. They don't know it factually, but instinctively. Tom awakens to find Mariel missing from their bedroom. He finds her in his old storage room, scrubbing the floor. She says she couldn't sleep, and that the room would be great for storing supplies other than just weapons.
Kira is talking to Lewis, and reporting to him she can hear all this going on. She asks him if his new DNA includes an urge to clean, and he laughs. He does admit to her he had been feeling restless before she called.
Russell, his dad. Russell was looking in Jesse's room for the gun Tom had given him. In the previous episode, while Russell was out on the island camp, Jesse had been drinking and shooting at pictures of his mother. Russell took the gun and bullets, the later of which was inside his tackle box.
a shotgun. Dave insisted he would stay, protect the house and document the events inside the hurricane. Larkin did not want to leave him, but Dave would not change his mind. So, right before they all left Russ threw a shotgun to Dave.
After Tom and Russ got the women and kids out through the Everglades, they took Russ' Bronco back into Homestead.
Kira. Kira did not want to leave Lewis in Homestead with the storm coming. She knew that he would not be safe. They kissed, and he told her he'd wait for her forever. Lewis is twenty-six and Kira is seventeen.
Blackpoint Sound. Russell went to the ranger station to borrow some supplies. While there, Mona said that Frank had closed off Blackpoint Sound. This sounded awfully suspicious to Russ, since earlier in the day Frank said it was economically essential to keep the park open.
When Russ found Frank at Blackpoint, he also saw what Frank protected for Eli. It was a body of water full of submerged hybrids.
You Cant Contain The Future. Tom questioned his police force as to who let Eli Szura out of the cell. No one would admit any responsibility, so Tom asked Deputy Munger if it was he who did it. Munger said no, and told Tom that Szura had used his own elbow to write a bloody message. He also said he hadn't stopped the message because he'd been intrigued.
"Give me what I want, and I'll go away" was the message of Andre Linoge in "Storm of the Century".
Erika Wade. Dave and Russ were suspicious that Ms. Wade was a hybrid. She'd been teaching her second grade class about life, death, and extinction. She wouldn't let Dave take Rose without calling Mariel first. Dave was not very nice to her until she revealed that she had stage four lymphoma. Stage four, or end stage, cancers are fatal. She explained that what she'd been teaching the kids was about how to live, and not how to die.
Tina Holmes played Ms. Wade. She also played the step-sister and lover of Nate Fisher in the final season of "Six Feet Under".
