Cathy Rogers. She was already involved with the show as a producer when it was decided that they needed a female host. Cathy got volunteered.
Season 3 included a US team in the competition. The team of Massachusetts engineers had a particularly long name that was shortened up using the initials of the words. What did the initials read? | 'Junkyard Wars' Trivia

'Apollo 13'. The movie showed a real event from the flight. To keep the crew alive, a square shaped air filter had to fit in a round air filter hole because the Command module and Lunar Module used different designs. The improvised result was odd looking, but worked. The idea of improvising machines out of junk (called bodging on the show), came from people who saw the movie, were impressed by the imagination needed to solve the problem, and built a TV show around building things from junk.
