Johnston Green. In the season finale, titled 'Why We Fight', Johnston Green, played by Gerald McRaney, was wounded in a gun battle. This occurred when Jericho was attacked by the citizens of New Bern, Kansas. Johnston Green was the former mayor of Jericho and the one man who was a strong leader that could take control.
Throughout the season the mystery of exactly who Robert Hawkins is continued. We heard several explanations. Aside from his story that he was a former police officer in St. Louis, we also saw that he had four different IDs. In episode 18 titled 'A.K.A.' we learned that Robert Hawkins was a member of what government agency?

the CIA. In episode 12 titled 'The Day Before', we learned that Hawkins was apparently a mole in the terrorist organization and he tried to learn their plans. At one point we saw four false IDs in Hawkins's possession, each with a different false name. They were: Robert Wheeler of the Department of Homeland Security, Robert Ellis of the Columbus Police Department, Robert Richmond of Naval Criminal Investigative Service AKA Naval Intelligence, and Robert Hawkins of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

New Bern. The citizens of post-bombing Jericho first visited New Bern in episode 16 titled 'Winter's End' when they went there trying to acquire several wind turbines. New Bern is short on food and salt. They struck a deal but Jericho had to send ten men to help with the manufacturing, they also promised of ten percent of Jericho's spring crops and 700 pounds of salt. Later we learned that New Bern was manufacturing mortar shells and planned to attack Jericho.

The aircraft used were two Russian-made Antonov transports, and two MiG 19 fighter-escorts, the parachutes used were U.S. Air Force with RFID tracking technology and found with the supplies were flyers stating, "Do not fight... China is your friend."

Jake Green. Jake Green, the elder of Mayor Johnston Green's two sons, had just been home for the first time in five years. No one knows exactly where he'd been for the last five years. He gave several weak explanations where he'd been and what he'd been up to. He claimed to have been in the Army, the Navy and playing minor league baseball. As he drove out of town he saw the mushroom cloud and knew there was big trouble.

Robert Hawkins . The character of Robert Hawkins is one of the show's central characters. Hawkins told the cover story that he had been a police office in St. Louis, and received training for nuclear disasters from the Department of Homeland Security post 9-11. Hawkins is played by Lennie James.

Denver, CO. Although it is impossible to see all the way to Denver from the supposed location of Jericho, we are lead to believe that the young boy saw the mushroom cloud from a nuclear explosion occurring in Denver, Colorado. This cloud was seen over the crest of a distant mountain range, even though no mountains can be seen from western Kansas.
Kansas. The fictional town of Jericho, Kansas is supposed to be in western part of the state, about 70 miles from the Kansas/Colorado border. It is also supposed to be near the junction of I-70, U.S. 83, and U.S. 40. In real life, these highways describe the location of Oakley, Kansas.
