The Accountant and DeVere. The Accountant and DeVere have this conversation on the telephone after the Accountant fails his assignment of killing Virgil in episode 4. The Accountant was supposed to go into the hospital, dressed as a doctor, and kill Virgil during the operation to remove the bullet lodged in his shoulder. However, he was unable to do this because FBI Agent King, who is Virgil's brother-in-law, was in the observation room during the operation.

Conrad Cain. This conversation takes place in episode 12, when Conrad and Knapp are in Mexico, waiting for a call from the kidnappers about the drop point. When Knapp later goes on to explain that the girl he almost married tried to run him over with her car, he says "See what I mean?"
Turner. Turner is annoyed that the FBI have moved into her workspace and are touching her equipment. This quote is from episode 7 when she comes to Knapp to get him to do something about it. Atkins. Annie Atkins comes to the FBI because she is convinced her daughter is dead, and that Conrad Cain had something to do about it. Julian Jaynes. The name "Emerson Jaynes" that the show's writers used for a children's book cover probably came from Julian Jaynes.

Textiles. Schroeder is DeVere's name on his fake ID. The Schroeder Textiles is the location from where he makes telephone calls and plays with his stress ball for the first few episodes.
Archibald. In episode 8, Knapp and Turner are discussing whether Joseph (the man Leopold saw in Central Park) really existed, or if he just imagined him. Knapp says that when he was little he had an imaginary enemy named Archibald. "What happened to him?" "He's still around."
Golf. When he first searches Leo's room, Knapp misses the journal because it is covered with a book jacket for "The Illustrated Almanac of Golf". Turner discovers it later on.

Conrad. In episode 3, when neither of her parents can be found, Aubrey Cain gives the toast, telling the guests that, although her father usually gave the speech, he had asked her to do it this time. The real reason he does not give it is that he is to busy dangling James Sullivan off the roof.

Brown. In episode 2, when an ear arrives in the Cain's mail, the FBI, fearing the worst, go to the university in search of Aubrey. They discover that the ear belongs to her roommate, although Aubrey is still in danger.
Staten Island. At the beginning of the episode, when Leopold is kidnapped, Virgil takes a bullet to the shoulder, and the kidnappers load him into the back of the car. Assuming he will soon die, they dump him on Staten Island. It was a big mistake on their part, because Virgil survives and plays an important role in rescuing Leopold.
