The title of this show in the pilot episode was not "Leave It To Beaver". What was the name of the show in this pilot?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

It's A Small World. I don't know why the title was changed when the series made it to the air. One choice for the series that was rejected was "Wally and Beaver", because sponsors thought it sounded too much like a nature show.

Who played the part of Ward Cleaver in this episode?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

Casey Adams. Casey Adams was a stage name used by actor Max Showalter, who appeared in many movies and TV shows from the '50s to the '70s. His last on-screen appearance was in 1984's "Sixteen Candles". As Ward Cleaver, he wore a smoking jacket, and was seen smoking cigarettes several times, something Hugh Beaumont's Ward never did. Richard Crenna starred in "The Real McCoys" and Robert Young was in "Father Knows Best", among other shows. "Ben Casey" WAS a tv show.

In this episode, mean older boy Frankie Bennett tries to get Beaver to stop hanging around by telling him he can win a free bicycle if he collects a certain number of bottle caps from bottles of Churchill’s Milk. What now well-known actor played Frankie Bennett?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

Harry Shearer. Yep, Derek Smalls from "This Is Spinal Tap" and the voice of many characters on "The Simpsons"! Ryan O'Neal DID appear in an episode of "Leave It To Beaver", but the others never did.

How many bottle caps did Beaver need to collect to win the bike?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

1000. That's a lot of bottle caps! I forget exactly how he managed it, but Wally, played by an actor named Paul Sullivan (NOT Tony Dow), helped him. Paul Sullivan did not have much of an acting career outside of this pilot.

When Beaver collects enough bottle caps, he goes to the local office of Churchill Milk Company. The first person he meets is the office secretary, Miss Simms. We will meet Miss Simms in later episodes playing one of Beaver’s teachers. Who plays Miss Simms?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

Diane Brewster. Diane Brewster played Beaver's first teacher, Miss Canfield. She reprised her role in the 1983 TV movie "Still The Beaver". Doris Packer played the principal, Mrs. Rayburn. Sue Randall played Miss Landers. Ann Doran played Mrs. Haskell. Yes, even Eddie Haskell had a mother.

Miss Simms introduces Beaver to the local manager of the Churchill Milk Company, Mr. Baxter. He looks very familiar to "Beaver" fans. Who plays the local manager of Churchill Milk? 'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

Richard Deacon. Richard Deacon, of course, went on to play Fred Rutherford, Ward's co-worker and father of Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford. Burt Mustin played Gus the Fireman at Auxiliary Fire Station Number 7, and Edgar Buchanan played Captain Jack, who owned the alligator farm.

Mr. Baxter is unaware of any contest being held, so he decides to call his boss, Mr. Fred Crowley, to check on Beaver’s story. Mr. Crowley is another familiar face, but why? Who plays Mr. Crowley?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

Joe Kearns. Joe (Joseph) Kearns played the long-suffering George Wilson on "Dennis The Menace". "HELLOOO MR. WILSON!" Fred Gwynne played Herman Munster, Adam West was Batman, and Walter Brennan won multiple Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor (and was in "The Real McCoys").

Mr Crowley hasn’t heard of the contest either so he asks Mr. Baxter where Beaver heard about it. Frankie Bennett had told Beaver it was announced on a childrens’ television show. What show was it?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

The Happy Harrington Show. We don't learn much else about "The Happy Harrington Show" except that it's on in the afternoon.

Mr. Crowley and Mr. Baxter decide that if Beaver heard it on television it must be true, but that the marketing department just hasn’t told them about the contest yet. Mr. Baxter tells Beaver that he will get a bike, but that “the bicycles just haven’t come in yet”. What happens next?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

Mr. Baxter sends his secretary with the boys to buy a bike at a local bike shop.. But when he finds out there really is no contest, he goes and takes the bicycle back from the Beaver. Beaver doesn't want to give it back, but Ward tells him it's the responsible thing to do.

At the end of the episode, Wally and Beaver find a bicycle in their bedroom with a note attached. Beaver reads the note aloud. What does he say?'Leave It To Beaver'- The Pilot Episode!

For two 'sponsible boys. A happy ending! Wally and Beaver run downstairs shouting "Hey Mom! Hey Dad!" This episode was filmed without a laugh track and without the signature theme song, and in my opinion suffers for it.
