"The Love Boat" was a series in which several (usually three) main stories were told in each episode, and this showed also in the quite unorthodox titles to each episode. Captain Merill Stubing was portrayed throughout the series by Gavin McLeod. The series doesn't concentrate on his steering abilities, but many episodes show the Captain inviting a special guest at his table during one of the gala dinners on board.

Bernie Kopell (born 1933) started his career as a casino employee in the TV series "Whispering Smith" in 1961. He is best known for his role as Doc Adam Bricker in "The Love Boat", and also played the very same character in an episode of the TV series "Saturday Night Live" and an episode of "Martin".
