| What is the name everyone calls the basketball coach? | One Tree Hill

Whitey Durham . The basketball coaches name is Whitey Durham. He is played by Barry Corbin from 'Northern Exposure'. Whitey was Dan's coach when he was the star player on the team. Keith asked Whitey to give Lucas a chance and that's how Lucas landed on the team with Nathan.
a car accident. Peyton's adoptive mother was killed in a car accident when Peyton was younger. Her mother ran a red light and was hit from the side. In episode 5 'Where I End and You Begin' Peyton runs red lights as a way of acting out on the anniversary of her mother's death.

Hilarie Burton. Hilarie Burton from MTV's 'TRL' plays Peyton. Peyton is a private and sensitive girl. She is an excellent artist who chooses to keep her talent hidden and just go with the flow of normal high school life. She was Nathan's girlfriend when the show started but they broke up and she has formed a bond with his brother Lucas.
Lucas. Nathan and Lucas are half brothers who share the same father. Nathan grew up in a wealthy family and is a star basketball player. Lucas is quiet and driven and is the only child of a single working mom. The two avoid each other until Lucas is asked to join Nathan's basketball team.

eye surgery. Coach Durham misses their last playoff game, which Dan Scott coaches for. They lost the game. Whitey is more concerned about the surgery than he lets everyone believe.
Jake. Jake decides that he needs a job, and Lucas puts in a good word for him with Karen. Haley has been working at the café since the Pilot, and neither Brooke nor Nathan has ever worked there.
Nathan. Nathan tells Haley that he went to see Lucas because he knew she couldn't, and he wanted Lucas to know she was thinking about him. While Nathan is talking to Lucas, he wakes up, and Nathan wakes up Karen and then leaves to go get Haley.
Gym. Haley thinks she is in danger of failing gym and asks Lucas to help her learn to throw a "stinking free shot" (free throw). Since he is busy with Brooke and Peyton, she goes to Nathan, who does help her out, and she eventually makes the free throw in class.
