One Tree Hill- Season 5
Skills. In "Don't Dream It's Over", Jamie began having nightmares about his grandfather. In one dream Dan was, very fittingly, a vampire! Skills admitted that he hated lying to Jamie at all, but also that Jamie easily manipulated Skills with his cute and charming ways. In this episode, Haley dreamed that Carrie was stealing her family... which could turn out to be true!
Stay tuned for part two of my season five "OTH" tribute.
The Honorary Title. Kate Voegele performed, as Mia, her amazing song "No Good". Mia was very nervous. So, Peyton and Haley spent most of "In da Club" reassuring her she was amazing. Then, Jason (Kevin Federline) showed up to torment her. He ended up only fueling what was a well received performance, but went on to sexually harass Haley. Nathan shoved him, to which Haley became very angry. She told him to let it go, so Quentin stepped in a punched Jason.
"In da Club" is a song by rapper 50 Cent, though he did not appear in the episode. All of the episodes of "One Tree Hill" are names of songs. The Honorary Title also had a song on one of the "OTH" soundtracks.
Owen. Brooke flirted madly with Owen in "In da Club", though at the end he told her she was too young for him. Joe Manganiello played Owen. In real life, Joe is a brawny 6'5" man who will be 32 in December 2008. He has guest starred on "CSI", "How I Met Your Mother", and "ER", but had a starring role on "American Heiress. At the time of airing, Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis) was 25, while her character was 22 years old.
Alice threatened to fire him. Brooke set Mouth up on a blind date with Millicent, as she had expressed interest in him. She looked beautiful in her Clothes Over Bros original, and she and Mouth had a great time getting to know each other. The entire time he was there, the predator kept texting him. Finally, Alice showed up at Tric and said he could finish enjoying his night. But, when it appeared he was liking Millie too much, Alice texted the warning that if he kissed her, Mouth would be fired. When Brooke discovered the reason behind Mouth's hesitation, she told him to rectify the situation and find the Mouth she used to know. Mouth did, and told Alice that he was done with her. She fired him, and he thanked her for showing him there are more important things than work.
Lisa Goldstein played Millie.
Haley. He most adamantly did NOT quit his own band. Peyton hired Haley to help produce the band's first album, after Jason refuses to take any guidance from her. Haley tried to help him, but he treated her with the same disdain as Peyton. During her initial time into the band, Haley discovered it was Mia, and not Jason, who was the true talent behind the music. So, she fired Jason and soon afterward convinced Peyton to back her up. Mia is played actress/singer/songwriter Kate Voegele. Kate was born in December 1986.
"It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" is a song by Bob Dylan.
"My Way Home Is Through You"- In the third hour of season five, we finally learn who the mystery woman is who works with Brooke at Clothes Over Bros. Played by Daphne Zuniga, who is the woman running the company and constantly telling Brooke what to do and not to do? | Season Five "One Tree Hill" Tribute Pt. 1
|
her mother, Victoria Davis. Brooke was supposed to have gone to Italy to pick out materials for her clothes, but went home instead. It was when Brooke charged an entire house to her company that her mother realized where she went. Victoria came to Tree Hill to order Brooke back to New York, but Brooke refused to go with her.
Daphne Zuniga has had many roles in film and television. Some of her most noted roles in the industry were the films "Vision Quest", "Gross Anatomy", and "Fly II"; and in the TV series "Melrose Place", "American Dreams", "Beautiful People" and the animated "Spaceballs".
Yes. I am not sure where Mouth went to college, but he is living with Skills and Junk in an apartment. He gets a job in the premier episodes, and immediately clashes with his boss Alice. Alice is a strict, judgmental, not it all boss and insinuates more than once that Mouth isn't attractive enough to be in front of a news camera. Kelly Collins Lintz plays Alice, and she was in the one and only season of "Surface". She played Tracy Connelly, wife of main character Rich Connelly.
Lindsey. Though Jamie was kidnapped during the ceremony, no one inside the church knew until the service was called off. Lindsey, at long last, realized the significance of the comet in Lucas' new novel. And, while Lucas continued to claim his story was about a star gazing scientist, Haley and Lindsey both knew it was about Peyton. When the comet first came into the lonely scientist's life it gave it meaning. When Lucas first met Peyton, she and her Comet were stranded along side the road and Nathan wouldn't leave practice to rescue her. She called Keith's shop and Lucas arrived to tow her and the Comet back to it. During the service, Lindsey added up all of the elements and gave Lucas back the wedding ring. Later, back at his house she also returned the engagement ring that had belonged to Keith, Karen and briefly Peyton.
Chase. In the "it's a small world" scenario, it turned out that Chase and Owen had been friends for years. They also turned out to be roommates. And, while Chase had admittedly gone on and on about his old girlfriend Brooke, Owen had not yet made the connection. Apparently, Chase didn't get over Brooke very quickly. Chase kissed Peyton at the party, in order to make Luke jealous. I am not sure if it worked, but Luke did not seem to care for seeing it. Then later, Peyton returned the favor by kissing Chase while Brooke looked on.
Dan was released from prison in this episode, and Brooke fired her mother at the end. I can see an evil tag team coming our way with those two.
Bevin. Bevin is a salesclerk at Macy's department store! She comes across as flakier than ever, and reveals she's married to Tim and that little Nathan is their son. Why on Earth did she leave Skills for Tim Smith?
"Running To Stand Still"- In a wrenching scene from Bethany Galeotti, Haley told Nathan she wanted a divorce. What had just happened to their son Jamie that sealed her desire for a divorce? | Season Five "One Tree Hill" Tribute Pt. 2
|
he'd fallen into their swimming pool. Played expertly by the adorable Jackson Brundage, four year old Jamie Scott was alone on his back deck when he fell into their pool. Nathan sent the youngster outside to shoot baskets while he tried to convince Haley that nothing had happened between he and nanny Carrie. Jamie lost his little basketball into the pool, so he knelt down to try and reach out for it. He lost his balance, and fell into their pool. It was less than a minute he was in the water when Haley realized he wasn't on deck any longer. Nathan fished him out of the pool and Jamie quickly began coughing out water. The intensity of the moment, and dealing with seeing her husband undressed with another woman, made this the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. Since they were arguing about Carrie and infidelity when they lost track of Jamie, I am sure Haley had all the pain she could handle. She told him she wanted a divorce.
The episode also dealt with paroling Dan. Though we do not know at the episode's end if he was released, the near drowning of Jamie and separation of Nathan and Haley lead me to believe he was released. Dan being released when Nathan is his most vulnerable makes the most sense for these characters' histories.
"For Tonight You're Only Here To Know"- Peyton finally found that Lindsey was wearing the ring Lucas was going to propose to her with three years earlier. Who told Peyton when they were stuck in the school library? | Season Five "One Tree Hill" Tribute Pt. 2
|
Brooke. Brooke was the only other of these choices to be in the library with Peyton. The duo was accompanied by Haley, Mia, Lindsey and later Tim Smith. Brooke was the first person of the three women to even see the ring, as Peyton told Luke she wasn't ready, without even looking at it. He then went to New York to meet with Lindsey's publishing house and told Brooke the whole story while there. She even scared Victoria into thinking Luke proposed to her, but only let her think it for a moment. Not long after finding out, Peyton told Lindsey it was her ring first. She later recanted that story, claiming she said it out of anger and jealousy. The episode ended with a sincere apology to Lindsey from Peyton, and the glimpse of Peyton being able to move on.
"For Tonight You're Only Here To Know"-
While the Tree Hill ladies believed that they were stuck inside the school library, did Tim Smith return in the form of a pizza delivery man? | Season Five "One Tree Hill" Tribute Pt. 2
|
Yes. Brett Claywell, not seen since season three's "I've Got Dreams to Remember", returned as Tim Smith. Fans might recall how infatuated Tim was with both Nathan and himself. I found it a surprise to see Tim again, but not at all surprised he was a pizza delivery man. The ladies used their internet access to order a pizza, in the hopes that the delivery person would open the door and let them out of the library. In truth, they were never really trapped inside at all, but just didn't realize how to open the doors. Tim did know how to get out, but chose to remain "locked" inside because he missed his friends. Fans got to find out that Tim had a young son named Nathan.
"Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want"- This episode serviced multiple story lines, including Peyton's disbelief that Lucas was engaged to Lindsey. But, who was fired from their job in this episode? | Season Five "One Tree Hill" Tribute Pt. 2
|
Alice, Mouth's boss. Mouth went into work to gather his things, as Alice had fired him in the previous episode. Obviously, based on comments and actions, this was just the very next morning. Jerry came in and told Mouth that Alice had been fired for sleeping with a co-worker. Mouth looked relieved until Jerry stated that the managers were "cleaning house". Mouth believed he'd be fired as well, since he had been sleeping with Alice. A bit later Mouth found out it was because she slept with her anchor that she and he'd been fired. When he told Jerry, Mouth found out that Alice had affairs with Jerry and Carlton as well.
Psycho nanny Carrie told Jamie she pretended she was him mom, and then kissed Nathan at the end of the episode. Peyton visited Anna's grave and asked for guidance, and a leaf fell down in front of Keith's headstone. She finally told Lucas all she wanted was for him to be happy, and that she would let him go. Lucas went home and told Lindsey he wanted to get married right away, to which Lindsey did not even question the urgency. Lindsey is burying her head in the sand about Lucas' inability to get over Peyton.
Jamie. Jamie, otherwise known as James Lucas Scott, finally admitted to Nathan that he was afraid after his near drowning. Nathan finally overcome his fear of playing basketball at an NBA level, and Mouth quit his job. It appeared that Mouth and Millie were heading to Iowa so that Mouth could take a job there.
Ethan Copeland. Brooke's foster daughter, Angie, received her heart surgery in this episode. Brooke tried guessing the doctor's first name, but finally learned it at the end. It could have been seen in an earlier episode, by reading the name plate on his desk. Chris Beetem played Ethan Copeland. My cousin and I feel that he reminds us of the actor that plays Karen's boyfriend Andy.
Haley and Lindsey. Peyton traveled to see Lindsey and told her to give Lucas another chance. Lindsey told Peyton that if she had read the book, she wouldn't be saying that. Earlier, Haley had also expressed the same sentiment and Peyton couldn't fathom how a work of fiction could end a relationship. When she finally did read the book, given to her by Lindsey, she cried. I think she finally realized the point both women had been trying to make.
a Wii game console. Skills was still feeling guilty about Jamie's kidnapping. He also believed that Nathan and Haley were mad at him, but it turned out to be that they were just feeling overprotective of Jamie. His Uncle Lucas gave him a book, Brooke wrote a check, Mouth bought him Legos and Dan gave him Nathan's old jersey.
Deb. Barbara Alyn Woods reprised her role as Deb Lee. Nathan and Haley interviewed quite a few nanny possibilities, but in the end Haley called on her mother-in-law.
t. Mouth was offered a job was a news station in Ohio and Brooke offered Millicent a promotion in New York. Brooke changed her mind whenever she was offered a baby to care for, and Mouth turned his job offer down to stay with Millie. Millie also decided to move in with Mouth.
Dan. Dan and Jamie hung out near the black wrought iron fence of his private school. They had a nice chat, and Dan told Jamie he had to leave before his presence became "pervy". That was the best scene of the entire episode, which made me sad, as I hate Dan.
Brooke spent the episode trying to prove she was adoptive parent material. She isn't, and was told so by the lady who performed her home study. Victoria gave her an awful review, but it was mostly her age and single status that seemed to preclude her. Though I admire her desire to adopt a child in need, I think she needs to mature more before taking on the task. But, she could always go visit a sperm depository and become preggers herself.. I have a great idea. I think she should do that, and become pregnant with Dan Scott's biological child! It would make an interesting storyline!
In "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace", the Tree Hill gang was seen reflecting on their lives. What sort of disappointment did Peyton face when she went inside the record store? | Season Five "One Tree Hill" Tribute Pt. 3
|
it was empty. Peyton was both shocked and disappointed to find the place she loved as a teenager had been closed. Max arrived later in the episode to explain why he'd had to close it down. Max is a 36 year old man still living at his parents' home. Series creator Mark Shwann reprised his role as Max.
This was the worst episode I'd ever seen of the series. It was boring. I surmised a guess that the writers anticipated only twelve would air because of the 2008 writers' strike. I wondered if maybe they all thought they'd have longer to decide what the next episode would entail, and what their characters would be up to. My fingers were crossed that Deb's return in the next episode would provide some much needed humor.
raven blue (like Daddy). Lucas and Skills want it to be red, but Jamie wants it to be blue. He tells Brook this and she tells him to stick up for himself and helps him paint it.
Daddy. Jamie's ball falls into the pool and he falls in trying to get it. His parents don't realize right away because they're too busy fighting with each other.
mohawks. When Lucas is drunk, someone gives him a mohawk. After Nathan and Jamie discover it, Haley comes over and shaves it off.
He rides on a scooter that his dad is pulling. Nathan ties a rope to it and around his waist and goes for a run.
Quinton. Skills is getting a little crazy.
Nanny Carrie. She's upset because his parents won't let her see him anymore. She wishes that he were her son.
The Tree Hill Ravens. The one his dad played for, and now coaches with Uncle Lucas, of course.
Nanny Carrie. This is not the only thing about Carrie that scares Haley.
He went to prison for not cleaning his room. Jamie asked Skills about his grandfather so he tells him the truth. Then Nathan tells him to lie if he's asked about Dan again, but he proves to be a bad liar.
