No. It was Carrie who tried it first. I think we can assume Samantha had already done this on numerous occasions, but after she suggests it to the group Carrie is the first one of them we see put it into play. She spies her ex-boyfriend Kurt Harrington while she's having lunch with Stanford and decides to experiment on him.
He has an expensive painting. Charlotte sees the painting and says it could sell for $100,000 since the artist is so popular at that time. Later, when Samantha joins Capote for sex she also claims to want to see the same painting, so he must have used that line on her as well.
Miranda. Miranda is celebrating another thirty-ish birthday with the girls. Cynthia Nixon went on to portray Miranda for six seasons. During that time she was also seen in "The Out-of-Towners" with Steve Martin, "Igby Goes Down" with Susan Sarandon, and on an episode of the TV series "Touched by an Angel".
Really bad breath. Samantha decided to try and turn him into a 'catch', and is successful in the style stakes, but his personality remains the same-terminally boring!
