'Supernatural'- Season 4
Yes. After a mighty battle inside a tomb, Sam and the demon witch faced off in a metaphysical death match. It took everything in Sam to force this particular baddie from inside the body of Mr. Harding. Dean had already shot the teacher with a shotgun, so he wasn't surviving this exorcism. Uriel warned Sam about using Azazel's power again. Castiel told Dean that he had been tested, in this instance, and the months to come would bring Dean more hard choices.
to destroy the entire town. Castiel found a hex bag in the mens' motel room, so the witch was onto their mission. When they couldn't provide Castiel and Uriel with any concrete plan to eradicate the witch, they were informed the town would be cleansed via annihilation.
Samhain. Samhain was the catalyst for the entire tradition of Halloween. Samhain had the power to raise up other demons, and the witch wanted to bring him forth. He'd been exorcised centuries earlier, but the tradition of Halloween continued on afterward.
she was boiled in the tub of water. Jenny and her friend wanted to impress a boy at a teen party. The blonde cheerleader, Tracy, went first and was able to pull an apple out right away. But, when Jenny tried to do so, she couldn't get an apple and was unable to pull her face out of the water. The other kids tried to help her, but before they could pull her up her face was boiled.
Frank thought that Luther had killed his wife Jessie. Frank O'Brian's wife Jessie had worked at the mill with Luther. Luther was a gentle giant, but in times of prejudice was also misunderstood. Luther and Jessie had been friends, but when she disappeared Frank thought Luther was behind it. After he killed Luther, Jessie was discovered as a suicide victim. Frank never forgave himself, and the sheriff Al also knew the truth. Sam and Bobby had to scare Luther's ghost in order to end the infection. The episode ended with a hilarious lip sync of "Eye of the Tiger" by Jensen Ackles. You could hear the cast and crew laughing in the background and then they all cheered him when he was finished.
No. It was Dean who became infected, which gave Jensen Ackles the perfect opportunity to show fans the less hard nosed or stoic side of Dean Winchester. The men used Aerosmith pseudonyms to investigate the episode's phenomenon. They called themselves agents Tyler (Steve) and Perry (Joe). Dean most likely became infected during Frank O'Brian's autopsy. He first showed fear of an innocuous group of teens on the street.
shapeshifter. Dean figured out what the culprit was after it attacked the barmaid Jamie. She and Dean were supposed to hook up, when "Dracula" attacked her. Dean saved her life, and ripped the faux vamp's ear off his head. He then explained to Sam and Jamie that it was the skin of a shapeshifter he was holding on to. It had pretended to be all the other monsters, as well as Jamie's co-worker Lucy.
Melinda Sward played Jamie, Holly Dignard played Lucy, and Todd Stashwick played the Dracula version of the shifter.
zombie. Marissa Wright was the first victim. She was a 26 year old woman killed by what appeared to be a vampire.
Dietrich: "This killer's some kind of grade A wacko, right? I mean some Satan worshiping', Anne Rice reading, Gothic psycho vampire wannabe.."
Rick was the second victim. He and his girlfriend were making out in a car when they were attacked. Later his girlfriend told Sam and Dean a werewolf had ripped him to pieces. The third person was killed by what appeared to an ancient Egyptian mummy. The museum security guard called when it arrived unexpectedly. The mummy crawled out from its tomb and killed the guard.
All of these (It was broadcast in black and white, The credits ran like an old scary movie, The Winchesters said they were agents Angus and Young). The atmosphere was perfectly set up as an old black and white horror flick. It came complete with the same kind of intense musical score to open the episode, bold upper case letters to credit cast and crew, and a black and white backdrop complete with crescent moon (waning not waxing). Later the moon is full, which negates a waning crescent to start the episode off. Sam introduced them to Sheriff Dietrich as agents Angus and Young. Angus Young is a member of the rock band AC/DC.
Dean. During "Monster Movie", Dean explained to Sam his theory that since he came back from the pit with all his old scars and injuries fixed, he believed that he had been "re-hymenated". This was just one of many laugh-out-loud lines from this black and white episode.
September 18. September 18 was the date on the newspaper when Dean was in the Phillips store in "Lazarus Rising". The date was also mentioned by Anna in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" as the day she started hearing the angels.
"Metamorphosis". "Metamorphosis" had the rugaru, a creature that ate human flesh. "Sex and Violence" involved a siren. "Monster Movie" involved a shapeshifter. "Jump the Shark" involved ghouls.
Portland, OR. Carthage was the location for "Metamorphosis". Rock Ridge was the location for "Yellow Fever". Fairfax was the location for "After School Special". Portland was the location for "Like a Virgin" from season 6, but not the location for any episodes in season 4.
"Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester". Ghosts of people that hunters had been unable to save attacked the hunters in "Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester." Agent Henrickson who died in "Jus in Bello", Meg who died in "Devil's Trap" and Ronald who died in "Nightshifter" all returned in this episode to attack the Winchester brothers.
Dean. Dean said this in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester". He followed up with, "Well, that's it, I'm torching everybody."
His son Dean. Castiel sent Dean back to 1973. In addition to dealing with the Yellow-Eyed Demon and meeting his parents and grandparents, Dean also took time to talk his father into buying the Impala rather than a van.
Four. There were four episodes. "Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester" was about the rise of the witnesses. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester" focused on the raising of Samhain. "Death Takes a Holiday" was about the attempt to kill reapers. And "Lucifer Rising" was about killing Lucifer's first demon.
"You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC. Classic rock music was an integral part of the show, with one or more songs in nearly every episode. This AC/DC song was the perfect background for the recap of season 3.
Sam. In "Lucifer Rising", Sam broke the final seal by killing Lillith. After Sam killed Lillith, Ruby admitted she had been working with Lillith all along and had set him up to bring on the Apocalypse, rather than stopping it. In the same episode, Zachariah admitted he set up the brothers as well, since the angels wanted the Apocalypse to happen too.
The lives of Sam and Dean. Lillith made this offer to Sam because she had discovered she was not going to survive the Apocalypse. Sam attempted to kill her. He later told Dean that he did not consider accepting the deal because she would have found a way to get out of the deal and all it would have cost the brothers was their lives.
Zachariah. Zachariah said this to Dean in "It's a Terrible Life". In the episode, Zachariah put Dean and Sam into a building with a ghost, but gave them normal jobs and no memories of being hunters, to prove to Dean that he was meant to be a hunter and could continue to fight.
Three. Pamela helped the Winchesters find out who had rescued Dean in "Lazarus Rising". She helped Anna remember she was an angel in "Heaven and Hell". And, she helped Sam and Dean save the reaper in "Death Takes a Holiday".
Family Remains. Kate said that in "Family Remains" after someone or something touched her hand. The killers turned out to be people rather than ghosts in this episode.
Dean broke the first seal. Alistair devastated Dean by telling him that when Dean broke in the pit after thirty years and started torturing souls, that was the first seal. He also told Dean that the plan was for Dean's father John to break the seal, but John lasted nearly 100 years and Alistair could not break him.
Alastair. Alaatair was the head torturer in the pit. He said this to Dean while attacking him in an effort to kidnap Anna in "I Know What You Did Last Summer".
