sculpture. Marlee Matlin played Bette's deaf lover Jodi. As usual in Bette's love life, her relationship with Jodi was full of challenges. Direct communication was not one of them, though, as Bette learned sign language quickly and Jodi could read lips and say many words. Once again it was Bette's control freak personality that ruined things. Jodi left to take a job in New York, and Tina helped Bette win Jodi back. Between Tina's advice, Tina's email, and sculpture theft, Bette went to New York to win back her lover. Shane and Alice helped Bette disassemble an iron sculpture that read "17 Reasons Why". Jodi loved that sculpture, and the property manager refused to sell it, so Bette stole it.
Shane's brother. Shane acquired Shay when Shay's mother Carla disappeared. She arrived at Shane's house and left Shay behind. Shane really stepped up to the plate in caring for Shay. She even took a job as an underwear model for money, after Shay broke his arm. Their father returned and took Shay away, which crushed Shane. Shay brought Shane and Paige together first, when he befriended Paige's son.
Paige was played by Kristanna Loken, and fans may remember her as the T-X in "Terminator 3".

Eva. I am not sure if we heard Papi's real name before the season four finale, but it is possible. I remember hearing it for the first time in the finale, when Tasha invited Alice to her going back to Iraq party. It was hosted by Papi, whose invite had her real name on it, Eva Torres. Papi seemed very concerned about Shane at first, but relaxed when she realized that the "Chart" was the last thing Shane cared about. Papi felt competitive with Shane by nature, but Shane was so non-confrontation, Papi quickly got over herself. Papi slept with several regular cast members in season four. The gorgeous actress Janina Gavankar played Eva "Papi" Torres. She and Rose Rollins (Tasha) filled in the vacant spots left behind by Erin Daniels (Dana) and Sarah Shahi (Carmen).
Stacey Merkin. Jenny and Stacey had a very good interview. It was easy and friendly, and Jenny thought it had gone very well. Jenny had become increasingly arrogant and irritating with each passing season of the show, so imagine her surprise when she read the interview on the magazine's website! Stacey had shredded both Jenny herself and "Sum of Her Parts". This review sent Jenny on a tumble into her darker psyche. She went hell bent on revenge, but her actions hurt someone else worse than Stacey. Heather Matarazzo played Stacey.
Brooke. Max went out with Brooke several times before finally admitting to her that he was in transition from female to male. Brooke's reaction was anger and disgust. Max met another woman later in the season who excepted him for himself. Chelsea Hobbs played Brooke.

Marina. Marina, who hadn't been seen since the end of season one, returned for a visit. Karina Lombard appeared in this episode and episode nine, "Lacy Lilting Lyrics". Joyce Wischnia, played by Jane Lynch, did appear in season four, but not until later. There was no appearance from Jenny's ex Tim this season, and none from Burr Connor, played by Tony Goldwyn.

Papi. Papi has a ticket to the 'Roll the Dice' premiere, but she's trying to get another for her friend Tasha and is also setting her up with Alice. Papi also wants to try to get into Catherine Rothberg's party and is hoping Alice can help. Rothberg is famous for high stakes poker games.
Alice. Alice also thinks she should invite everyone else. Shane agrees to have Alice as a date but warns her not to tell anyone else. Alice still calls all her friends anyway.
