The boogyman. Paddy stumbled across the other side of the island one night when he came across a barrel of liquor. After drinking some of it, he found a place of worship with blood all over the alter, and not wanting anything bad to happen to himself and the children, he made up the story of the boogyman to keep them away. However, as the next question tells you, he also had to tell them something else, so that they would know that he was serious.

Lori Loughlin. Lori Loughlin was cast to play the part as an older Emmaline, however, once filming started and Lori's mother found out that there was to be nudity in the film, she refused to let her daughter be in the movie. The other actress that the producers and directors wanted for the part, after Lori pulled out, was none other than Brooke Shields. The "Blue Lagoon" is the movie that catapulted her career and made her the star that she is today.

Paddy. Even though he was a gruff old sea hag, he loved the children and tried to raise them the best way he knew how to on the island.
San Francisco. Richard and his father were taking Emmaline home to San Franciso to live with them after her mother's funeral. Emmaline's mother and Richard's father were brother and sister!

A fire that started on board caused the ship to sink. Richard and Emmaline were thrown into the dinghy by the ship's cook, Paddy when the fire broke out on board.
The Boogeyman. He warns the children that the Boogeyman will eat them, bones and all. He declares it the law that they never go over there. Soon afterward, Paddy gets drunk, swims to a neighboring island, and dies.
7. Richard, in particular, seemed to be most curious about marriage. Paddy had many pictures for the kids to view of families in different settings. They came from the trunk he rescued right after the ship burned.

Never wake up berries. These, of course, are the same berries that baby Paddy eats at the end of the movie. Elva Josephson played young Emmaline. She was also in the 1982 movie "Author! Author!" with Al Pacino and Dyan Cannon.
Leo McKern. Paddy saved the kids when their ship caught fire. He rowed them to a safe shore and taught them many survival skills before he died. Leo died at age 82 from a long illness, but you may remember him from his appearances in both of the first two "Omen" movies and 1985's "Ladyhawke".
He was looking through Paddy's belongings. There was not much for young kids to do on a long voyage. So, Richard and Emmaline snuck into the cook's room and rifled through his stuff. When caught, Richard was lingering on a photograph of a nude woman.
Cousins. Emmaline calls out for Richard's father several times, as Uncle Arthur. William Daniels played Arthur LeStrange. Mr. Daniels was the voice of the A.I. (artificial intelligence) KITT in the TV series "Knight Rider" from 1982-1986. He reprised that role in the 1991 TV movie "Knight Rider 2000".
Yes. Em wanted to travel back to the place that they'd shared with Paddy Button. While there, Richard went off to harvest some bananas and the boat drifted out a little ways. Em and Paddy were in the boat, and Em was startled awake when Paddy tossed one of the oars overboard.
Richard swam out and tried to save the oar, but had to save himself from a shark attack. As Richard was climbing into the boat, Em threw out the remaining oar to ward off the shark. The trio could not get back to shore and drifted for several days on the open ocean. When Arthur and his ship mates found them adrift, they were all asleep from eating the red 'never wake up' berries.
Richard. I do not recall ever hearing little Paddy say mommy or Emmaline, but he said all of the other words, and said "fishies" a few times as well. He said the word boat when Arthur LeStrange's ship passed by the island looking for the kids. At the time, all three were covered in mud and Arthur did not believe they were the people he was looking for.

CoCo. Richard wakes up one morning to the sound of CoCo talking (bird talk). He asks the bird where Emmaline is, sits up, and sees her throwing up near the waves. Em is experiencing morning sickness.
to stop fighting. Richard asks Emmaline why they fight so much. She says she doesn't know.
Richard: " That should be our New Year's revolution, to stop fighting so much."
Em: "I'll try, but I don't know what's wrong with me when I say the things I say."
The kids forgot many of the correct words to songs, and in this case, that we make New Year's resolutions, not revolutions. Richard was close, but just a little off on the exact word to use.

oysters from the ocean. We see Richard farming pearls from oysters off of their beach. He sets up the entire Christmas event, just to please Emmaline. He provides her with reindeer hoof prints and all. She does figure out that Richard set the whole thing up.
Emmaline. Emmaline asks Richard to take her away from the place they lived with Paddy Button. So, they move a bit further down the coast of the island, but not too far from where Paddy's body rests.
