Men's 5000m. The USAs LaShawn Merritt and Jeremy Wariner took 1-2 in the 400m. In the marathon, countrymen Abel Kirui and Emmanuel Kipchirchir Mutai of Kenya took the top two spots, while Ezekiel Kemboi and Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong, also of Kenya, swept gold and silver in the steeplechase. While Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele won the men's 5000m, the USAs Bernard Lagat took second.
