Candy Quackenbush. Candy ditches school one day when she is tired of her teacher's unfair rules. She walks through the town until she comes upon a very strange object in the middle of Minnesota: A LIGHTHOUSE!
|What are Candy's parent's names?|
Bill and Melissa. Candy's father was always unkind to her and she can't wait to escape her father's abusive tendencies. Her mother, though has always been so kind, so Candy is very sad that she must leave her.
|What is the name of the town Candy lives in?|
Chickentown. There are so many chickens in Candy's town, that they almost exceed the people, and it often smells extremely bad!
|What is the name of the man with eight heads?|
John Mischief. John Mischief asks Candy for assistance in Minnesota. After that point, John Miscief and his eight brothers, who each have very unique personalities, become very close friends to Candy.
|Who is sometimes known as the Prince of Darkness?|
Christopher Carrion. Christopher Carrion has a fascination with hunting down Candy, for unknown reasons (which will come up in the 2nd book). Christopher Carrion's grandmother is twice as vile and unlikable as he is.
|How many islands are there on the Abarat?|
25. There is an island, one for each hour in the day, where it is forever that time. There is also the 25th hour, which is fascinating and very mysterious.
|What island does Candy first arrive on?|
Yebba Dim Day. Yebba Dim Day is one of the Islands in Abarat. Candy is helped by her friends Pux and Kokono. John Miscief and herself arrive there together. Along the way they become very good friends.
|What is the ocean that carries Candy into the Abarat?|
The Isabella. You can get to the Sea of Isabella in Minnesota, which might seem a little strange, but, there is a lighthouse in the middle of a field, and you can jump into the sea, if the passage is opened, where you'll be taken on a wonderful adenture.
|What is the name of the man with the many hats on the island of Ninnyhammer?|
Kasper Wolfsfinkle. Kasper Wolfsfinkle's source of magic is the six hats he wears upon his head. He has stolen each of them from magic doers over the years and if his hats are taken from him, then he is powerless.
|Who is Candy's monkey-like friend?|
Malingo. Malingo lived in Ninnyhammer with Kasper Wolfsfinkle, as a slave, until Candy came upon them accidently. She was totally appalled and knew that she had to save this poor creature somehow.
