This farming community has a strong Ukrainian background, and a very interesting Pysynka - or giant painted Easter egg.

Vegreville. The Pysynka style of Vegreville's giant Easter egg is typical of the region of Ukraine where the majority of Albertan settlers came from (Bukovenia)

This darling little town was put on the map by it's home-made sausages, and enormous sausage statue placed in the town square.
Mundare. Mundare sausages are fabulous, but if you are married be sure to give some to your hubby as well, the garlic could peel paint!

This town's rival is the giant sausage town 20 minutes away. They chose to erect a huge mallard duck. What town is this?
Andrew. Really the only interesting thing about Andrew is that it has a very large mallard duck.

This town is in Canada's oldest National Park.
Banff. The town of Banff is home to many elk, bears, and ravens...thanks to a great amount of tasty tourist food!

Continuing in the Ukrainian theme, this town has a giant perogy on a fork in one of its parks.
Glendon. After the statue was erected, it was noted that the chips surrounding the fork resembled bacon bits...not as effect they had originally anticipated!

This city, also the capital, is home to a mall with dolphins, a pirate ship, an amusement park, go-cart racing, minigolf, a casino, an indoor skating rink, and a waterpark (not to mention over 1000 stores).
Edmonton. The Mall, as Edmontonians call it, or West Edmonton Mall, as it is generally known, attracts people from all over the globe. WHY??

This city hosts an important rodeo competition annually in July...(hint). The name of the event is also the name of their CFL team.
Calgary. Calgary finally took down their 1988 Olympic Host signs in 2000. Way to go.

This town contains, of all things, an Alien Landing Pad.
St. Paul. The pad is surrounded by flags from around the world. (and the music from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" ???)

This ghost town, once a thriving community around the turn of the century, is now entirely under a collapsed mountain.
Frank. The Native people living in the area at the time of the Frank Slide warned townsfolk that the mountain was not friendly ("Turtle Mountain will nod its head")...and so it did.

This ranching town is the home of k.d. lang.
Consort. She was shunned after her highly publicized anti-beef campaigns...the backbone of the community is beef!
