Fun Trivia: D : Daughtry, Chris

Special Sub-Topic: All About Daughtry

"I was blown away. What could I say? It all seemed to make sense. You've taken away everything, And I can't deal with that." These are the opening lines of Daughtry's first single. Can you name it?

It's Not Over. "It's Not Over" was featured in a finale of the second season of "Prison Break" and was certified platinum in April 2007. The members of Daughtry are "American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry, Josh Steely, Josh "JP" Paul, Joey Barnes and Brian Craddock.

The second single, also taken from the debut album "Daughtry", contains the lines "I don't regret this life I chose for me. But these places and these faces are getting old, So I'm going home". This song was used as the "vote-off" song in American Idol (season 6) in 2007, which created publicity for the song. Can you remember the title?
Home. The single "Home" was also certified platinum, and also featured on Alvin and the Chipmunks' album, "Undeniable", in 2008! Chris decided to form his own new band after Fuel offered him to be their lead singer, but he turned them down.

The third single, also on the eponymous album, featured rock legend Slash on guitar. It was not a full single release, instead featured only on rock radio stations since "Home" was not getting enough airplay on these stations, and as such does not have a music video. What song is this?
What I Want. Of course, the song "Faint" is not by Daughtry, but by Linkin Park! "What I Want" was featured in a game for the Nintendo DS game "Guitar Hero: On Tour". The album "Daughtry" sold four million copies!

This breaking-up song was released as the fourth single, and features the lyrics "'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through, I got --------" - what? (Note: Also the name of the single.)
Over You. This break-up song won an award at the Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) Awards in May 2009. The video features a girl named Sarah, who tries to beat her alcoholism by going to Alcoholics Anonymous after being involved in a car accident. According to the official Daughtry site, the debut album "Daughtry" is the fastest selling debut rock album in Soundscan (also known as Nielsen SoundScan)history!

The fifth single was featured in Lego Bionicle ads for the "Toa Mahri" set in the US and was also only a radio single. It is used often as the band's opening single. What is its name?
Crashed. "Crashed" didn't have an official video made as the band made one for "Over You" instead. Chris' has two children with his wife, Deanna: Hannah is his stepdaughter from Deanna's previous marriage, and Griffin is his adopted son.

This song, the sixth single, contains the lyrics: "And it feels like tonight. I can't believe I'm broken inside. Can't you see that there's nothing that I wanna do, but try to make it up to you?" Can you guess the title?
Feels Like Tonight. An instrumental version of this song was featured in ads for the Tom Hanks movie "Charlie Wilson's War". Chris revealed on "American Idol" in 2006 that he maintains a shaved head as he is balding, and wants to look as pleasing as he can!

The song released as the seventh single is one of two songs on the album not at least co-written by Chris (the other being "Feels Like Tonight"), and was covered by Irish band Westlife in 2009. What song is this?
What About Now & What About Now?. "What About Now?" was played at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2009 in US President Barack Obama's honor, and was used extensively on "The X Factor" (UK version) and "Britain's Got Talent" in the same year. An album by Chris' high school band, Cadence, called "All Eyes On You", can sometimes be found on eBay as a rare item.

This song, eighth released overall, is the first single from the second album "Leave This Town". Co-writers include Chris Daughtry and Chad Kroeger from the band Nickelback. What is the song?
No Surprise. The album "Leave This Town" is named after a line in the song "September": "we knew we had to leave this town, but we never knew when, and we never knew how".

The ninth single, and the last one included in this quiz, was also co-written by Chad Kroeger. Fill in the blank to this lyric from the song: "I'm thinking that all that still matters is love ever after, after the life we've been through, 'cause I know there's no --------" What are the missing words?
Life After You. Chris finished "American Idol's" fifth season in 4th place in 2006. In 2009, Daughtry performed an acoustic version of "Poker Face" by Lady GaGa, which was popular on YouTube.

This question is not related to the singles, but it is about a song by Daughtry. Which of these is a song from "Leave This Town" which features country singer-songwriter Vince Gill?
Tennessee Line. Vince Gill is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter in the country genre, and has been active as a musician since 1979, when he was the frontman for the band Pure Prairie League.
