    Charles Guiteau. James Garfield, the 20th President of the United States, died from blood poisoning and pneumonia. He is one of only three presidents to predecease their mothers (with Polk and Kennedy being the other two).

    Leon Czolgosz. Although McKinley was shot twice, he began to recover after surgery, only to die eight days later from gangrene surrounding his wounds.
