a thief. Yomi was once a member of Youko Kurama's infamous band of thieves.
|How did Yomi lose his sight?|
in an ambush. Yomi lost his sight when his eyes were slashed by a sword during an ambush. The youkai who blinded him was hired by Kurama to kill Yomi, but when Yomi fought back despite being wounded and blind, he ran off, saying "No reward is worth my life." These words taught Yomi the awful truth - that he had been betrayed by his own leader.
|Why did Youko Kurama punish Yomi?|
Yomi's recklessness was endangering the band. Kurama felt that Yomi's poorly planned and unauthorized raids were endangering not only himself, but the rest of the band. He ordered the attack on Yomi to prove a point - Kurama wouldn't always be there to bail Yomi out of trouble when his plans went awry.
|Yomi holds a grudge against Kurama for the loss of his sight.|
f. Yomi holds no grudge against Kurama for the loss of his sight. He considers it fair punishment for the recklessness and stupidity of his youth. In fact, Yomi is grateful to Kurama because, ultimately, his blinding forced him to become stronger.
|Why does Yomi contact Kurama again after a thousand years?|
He wants Kurama's advice. Yomi knows that Kurama has a brilliant mind for strategy, and he wants Kurama as an advisor in the event that war should break out between the three kingdoms after the death of Raizen.
|How does Yomi secure Kurama's help?|
He threatens Kurama's family. By the time that Kurama receives Yomi's message sphere, Yomi has already been watching him for some time. He hints that should Kurama refuse to help him, something tragic might happen to Kurama's mother and her new husband on their honeymoon.
|Shura is Yomi's...|
clone. Although Shura calls Yomi "Papa", he is actually a clone of the king. Yomi originally created Shura only to be his secret weapon in the Makai Tournament, but after fighting him in the tournament, Yomi realized that his clone reminded him very much of himself, and his feelings changed.
|Yomi loses to Yuusuke in the Makai Tournament.|
f. Yomi beats Yuusuke, but in so doing, he expends so much energy that he decides to drop out of the competition and leave it to Enki. After the tournament, Yomi leaves with Shura on a training journey into the wilds of Makai.
|What does Yomi's name mean?|
Yellow Spring. The actual kanji used for Yomi's name (which can be seen on the screen rating Yomi's power level as compared to the other kings) are "yellow" and "spring/fountain", but as you can see, many other interesting combinations are possible.
|Who is Yomi's Japanese voice actor?|
Ebara Masashi. Ebara Masashi is the Japanese voice actor for Yomi. He also sings "At the End of a Thousand Years' Darkness" ("Sennen no Yami no Hate"), Yomi's image song. Tsujitani Kouji provides the voice for Itsuki, Chiba Shigeru voices Kuwabara, and Nakahara Shigeru is, of course, Youko Kurama.
