Fun Trivia: A : Australian Lingo

Special Sub-Topic: Aussie's Rule: Best Slang Ever (Part 2)

Whinge?

Complain. What could anyone complain about in Australia, maybe summer heat?

Jumbuck?
Sheep. This sounds like a candy gumball, more, than an animal.

Cozzie?
A bathing suit. "Let's cozzie up and go to the beach."

Rellie?
A family relative. A person's family should be an important part of one's life, mine is.

Fair Go?
A chance. I think you have a fair go of getting these questions right.

Oldies?
Parents. Don't tell your oldies where we are going tonight.

Zack?
Sixpence (five cents). This used to be the term for sixpence now it's used for five cents.

Croweater?
Someone who lives in South Australia. There are a large number of crows in the South Australia outback, thus the name.

Youse?
You. It does sound like a Brooklyn accent, does it not. DISCLAIMER: I am not making fun of an accent, this is not a bad thing.

Brumby?
A wild horse. Australia has the largest number of feral (wild) horses in the world. Allegedly, a Lt. Brumley released horses in 1804 into the New South Wales bush and Australian outback. They have been known as Brumbies ever since.
