work on computers. This means they're at home a lot.

the drawing room. It usually leads onto a brick wall.

Miss Spink and Miss Forcible. Mister Bobo is the strange old man who lives upstairs.

What does the strange old man upstairs say he is training?

a mouse circus. The mice are rats in the Other House and are not very nice creatures at all!

What does Coraline hate?

her father's recipes. She won't eat what her father cooks because he's always making "recipes".

Who helps Coraline?

the cat. The cat talks to her and warns her of everything her Other Mother is trying to do.

What does her Other Mother have instead of eyes?

Black buttons. Very spooky; as Terry Pratchett says on the cover "you will never think about buttons in quite the same way again".

Where does she meet the other children?

in the mirror. They are other children that the Other Mother captured long ago. One of them seems Victorian, and another has wings and eats only flowers.

When the children were hidden, what did their eyes resemble?

marbles. Her parents are hidden in a snowglobe, and the ornaments guess was inspired by Oz.
