Special Sub-Topic: Costa Rica: Who Am I?


I was born 8 November 1970, in Alajuela, Costa Rica. I am a goalkeeper that have played in Carmelita, Herediano, Belen and Saprissa. I had to wait a long time to be in the lineup, but at last, they put me in and I became the best goalkeeper in Costa Rica.

    Jose Francisco Porras. Jose Francisco Porras was a high goalkeeper with great reflexes. But, Erick Lonnis (another good goalkeeper) was in his spot at Saprissa and benched him. After Lonnis' retirement, Porras took his place and satisfyingly. More than enough, he became the best goalkeeper in his team and the national squad, a place which he earned after his good appearances. He was considered by all the Costa Rican population, an old but the best goalkeeper of Central America.

I was born in September 7, 1975, in Heredia, Costa Rica. I started my career with Saprissa, then moved to San Luis in Mexico, then to Alajuelense in Costa Rica. I am bold and I played the right defender position.
    Harold Wallace. Harold Wallace was an element for Costa Rica's national squad. He was a star in any team and match he played, supporting goals and defense. He played at the sides, helping midfields also.

I was born October 13, 1982 in San Jose, Costa Rica. I had never played in any senior team in Costa Rica. In United States with the Chicago Fire, I was a defender.
    Gonzalo Segares. Gonzalo Segares played at the junior leagues of Saprissa, and moved to the United States after high school to study. At VCU, he played and was hired by Chicago Fire. He made good appearances with goals as well.

I was born December 30, 1984, in San Jose, Costa Rica. I started to play senior with Saprissa, where I did fantastic goals from long distance. I was called by the national squad of Costa Rica for the 2006 World Cup, but I did not score goals. After the world cup, KAA Gent bought me and I have supported with goals and technique.
    Randall Azofeifa. Randall Azofeifa, being just 21-years old, was recognized as the best long range shooter in Costa Rica's first division, sharing the spot with enemy Carlos Hernandez. His magnificent goals, defense and offense, took him to a non-playing World Cup. His major accomplishment was moving to Belgian club KAA Gent.

I was born August 10, 1974, in Alajuela, Costa Rica. I was a recognized defender that played in Carmelita, Alajuela, River Plate, Universidad, and Maccabi Netanya in Israel. My fellow citizens consider me a symbol of Costa Rican soccer, but I have sometimes dissapointed them.
    Luis Antonio Marin. Luis Marin is possibly one of the best defenders Costa Rica has ever seen. He played at both World Cups of 2002 and 2006, doing an average performance. For the national squad, he played 123 times and scored 5 times.

I was born October 14, 1978, in San Jose, Costa Rica. I played left midfield in Saprissa, and I was hired for several clubs like Universidad Catolica de Chile, OFI Crete, and SK Brann. Then I came back with Saprissa, discovering my new talent as forward. I scored many goals and all Saprissa loved me.
    Alonso Solis. Jorge Alonso Solis first played in Saprissa, where he shined but never stood as a star. When he left to play in the foreign, nobody heard about him. He scored some goals, yes, but when he came back as forward, he struck hard. Solis had the technique, cold blood and dance needed for a perfect player. He defined many Liga-Saprissa games, so he was considered the best.

I was born June 6, 1974, in San Jose, Costa Rica. I played midfield and commonly forward. I have played in Saprissa, La Piedad, Independiente de Medellin, La Piedad, Toluca, and Alajuelense. I have played for the national squad, becoming the best goalscorer ever.
    Rolando Fonseca. Rolando Fonseca played in many clubs, but definitively his best moment was with Saprissa, the team that saw him grow up. They turned him to a national star. Then he was touched by more clubs, including enemy Alajuelense. Rolando Fonseca scored Costa Rica's 1000th goal. He is considered one of the best.

I was born January 24, 1975, in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I have played for Carmelita, Alajuelense, Gijon, Hercules, Municipal, OFI Crete, Al Qadisiya, Irapuato, Saprissa, and Apoel Nicosia. I have also scored 23 goals for the national squad. I am a definite symbol for Costa Rica. I first played for Alajuelense, then many years ago I went to Saprissa. I did a very good job and their fans forgave me for playing in the enemy team.
    Ronald Gomez. Ronald Gomez was champion with Alajuelense, Saprissa, and Apoel. He always puts goals when needed, and that is why he is important. He played both World Cups 2002 and 2006. He scored two in 2002, even one header against Brazil.

I was born May 23, 1968, in Costa Rica. I have played worldwide with prestigious clubs such as Dinamo Zagreb, Fogga Calcio, Rapid Wien, Rayo Vallecano, Pachuca, Leon, Necaxa, and Saprissa. My retirement was indicated by beginning as trainer, first with Saprissa and Costa Rica.
    Hernan Medford. Nicknamed El Pelicano, Medford is one of the finest players of Costa Rica in history. It was so shocking, that his number can not be used in Pachuca, the 17. His foreign clubs are living proof that he was one of the element players in Costa Rica. He played both Italy 1990 and 2002 World Cups.

I was born July 13, 1976. I am the most famous forward in Costa Rica, so you better know me. I played both 2002 and 2006 World Cups. In 2002, I scored to Brazil. In 2006, I scored two magnificent goals against Germany in the inaugural game. I have played with many foreign clubs, including Manchester City.
    Paulo Wanchope. He was the best forward in Costa Rica, traveling across the world. He started in Herediano, where he was seen by Derby County. Then he went to West Ham, Manchester City, Malaga, Al Gharrafa, Herediano, Rosario Central, and Tokyo FC. In all of these clubs, he scored several goals when he was given the shot. Many remember him because of his goals hand to hand against Lehmann.
