    Freedman's Bureau. They were the Yankees that ran the Freedman's Bureau. They kept track of the taxes and things owed, and also served as some sort of law enforcement.

    Tony Fontaine. Scarlett lies to Frank and tells him that Suellen got tired of waiting on him and was planning to marry Tony Fontaine next month, because she knew that if he married Suellen, she wouldn't help pay the taxes on Tara.

    Melanie Hamiltion. Melanie was the only woman that Rhett thought was truly kind. She didn't do lady-like things to save face, and she was the only person that was ever truly kind to people and never looked at the bad things. Most of all she accepted him when no one else would even speak with him.
