    Monaco. Monaco is sqeazed on 1.95 sq km, San Marino has an area of 61.2 sq km, Liechtenstein 160 sq km and Estonia 45,226 sq km (including 1,520 islands).

The other way round: which of these countries is the largest (again by land area)?
    Sweden. Here are the numbers: Sweden 449,964 sq km, Germany 357,021 sq km, Italy 301,230 sq km and the United Kingdom 244,820 sq km.

Which of these countries has the most neighbours?
    Germany. Germany borders nine countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland), Poland and Hungary seven each and Lithuania four.

One of these countries is not a monarchy:
    Austria. Denmark has a Queen (Queen Margrethe II.), in Belgium King Albert II. is the monarch and in Norway King Harald V.

Which country does not have a Mediterranean coastline?
    Portugal. Portugal is on the Atlantic or western side of Iberia.

Budapest and Bucharest are the capitals of (respectively)
    Hungary and Romania. The capital of the Czech Republic is Prague, Poland's capital is Warsaw.

Which of the following countries has the most official languages?
    Switzerland. The official languages of Switzerland are German, French, Romansh and Italian. In Malta it is Maltese and English, Belgium is legally bilingual (Dutch and French, but German is also an official language) and in Austria German is the sole official language.

One of the following languages is not a Germanic language:
    Finnish. Finnish is a Finno-Ugric language, related to the Estonian and Hungarian languages.

The Sami are a people living in
    Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. There are around 55,000 Sami living in these four countries, about 20,000 in Norway.

Berlin, Lisbon, London, Paris and Rome are the capitals of Germany, Portugal, the United Kingdom, France and Italy, but which US state has all these places on its map, too?
    All of these three (Missouri, Pennsylvania, Tennessee). Runners-up are Illinois, Iowa, New York, Ohio, South Carolina (no London), Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin (no Lisbon) and Arkansas (no Rome).
